Getting billed for prenatal tests

I just got a bill from a lab for my 16 week bloodwork (the AFP test I think). I didn't get billed for this for my first two and we have the same insurance as we did then. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I have Aetna. Maybe it's because I did Maternit21 this time?

I plan on calling later, but wanted to see if anyone had similar experience.

I got a 3k bill for the Maternity21 test. I called the lab and they said if i sent an EOB from the insurance company it would be reduced to $140. I would call both the insurance company and the lab.

What sort of bill are you talking about? For most of my labs, I received a small bill ($3 - $17) to pay the lab directly.

This happened to me with my second when I did the NT scan and bloodwork. Apparently the insurance did not cover the bloodwork so the lab "reduced" my bill to $60. Not sure why because I wasn't billed with my first like that (only the co-pay).

Ditto. I had a $20 co-pay for lab work done... and I did not have Materniti21 testing done.

Definitely not a copay. It's $280. There must be a mistake somewhere. Time to put a call in...

I have a deductible for labs so the bill I got was left over from whatever the insurance didn't pay. It was around 16 weeks too so probably same test!
