shoes and plantar fasciitis
I was just talking with my SIL and her plantar fasciitis is flaring. She is now on the hunt for (at least semi) cute shoes that she can wear to work that won't aggravate her PF once the current inflammation goes down. I looked on the FootSmart website, but most of the shoes they show for PF are flip flops... too casual, and she can't wear anything open toed to work anyway.
Does anyone here suffer from PF? I know she prefers to wear flats since she is so tall, but it seems like really flat flats are not good? But I assume tall heels aren't good, either? So maybe a low wedge or something?
Guess I was just hoping that someone here has the same thing and can recommend some brands for her to try. I feel bad for her... it sounds really uncomfortable!

Re: shoes and plantar fasciitis
Dh has it very bad but his shoes are of no help to her! I agree about orthotics- I think that, more so than a shoe, is what she needs. She should see a podiatrist to get orthotics

She has orthotics. She also has a pair of very clunky, very ugly shoes that she wears specifically when she is having a bad flare.
She just said she was looking for shoes to wear after the flare settles down. She wears her orthotics in most of her shoes, I think she was just looking for a few pair of supportive shoes that she could wear to work (with orthotics? without? I don't know her plans that well) once she isn't suffering so badly. Hopefully that will be soon. I think the doc gave her a shot in her foot (which sounds horrid to me! )
We were just talking on the phone and I feel like the people on here always have such great suggestions, I figured I'd ask!

Re: shoes and plantar fasciitis
definitely try orthotics for the heel.
i do find Dr. Scholl's flats to be super comfortable though. they have nice innersoles in them. I just bought these from DSW and they are soo comfy!
Dr. Scholls
they definitely have better support in them than typical flats.

100%! I swear by these and feel like they literally saved my feet! I LIVE in the flip flops in the warm weather. The boots are not as good but still great!

Re: shoes and plantar fasciitis
I've had it in both feet. Flat shoes are not good, neither are flip flops that smack against the heel. Walking barefoot is bad too. A low wedge is the best with good support is best, it alleviates the strain on the ligament. Someone mentioned Vionic shoes, I have a nurse friend that swears by them.
Foot and calf stretches help with some of the tightness.

Thanks everyone! I will tell her about the Vionics and the Dr. Scholls.
She doesn't live on LI; but next time she's up, I'll see if she wants to take a trip into the store you mentioned, luvbuffet. I have pretty awful feet myself, so maybe they can help both of us with our hag feet!

Wedges are actually the best. Mine was very bad 2 summers ago and wearing a wedge was the most comfy. It stretches it out.

I know not everyone like Crocs (and I certainly didn't) but their ballet flats really helped with my plantar fasciitis.
