I was contemplating doing another fresh cycle but I just met with my RE yesterday and he encouraged me to do another FET due to the fact that I still have 3 good quality embryos. However, he gave me 2 options. He really only wants to transfer 1 because he's afraid of me carrying multiples, especially since my son was born at 33 weeks. So, he said that we can grow them to blasts since they were frozen on day 3 and then transfer one. My only concern with this is that I end up with nothing and they all arrest. Have any of you ladies ever grown your day 3 to blast and had success? My other option is to transfer 2 which my doctor will do but he isn't totally happy about it. I have two 6 cells and one 9 cell.

I have no advice but I will be doing an FET next month and my dr suggested we grow my 4 day 3 embryos to day 5 and then transfer 2 of the best ones. One is not great quality so he definitely doesn't think that one will make it. I agree with his suggestion and it's just a risk I'm willing to take.... hopefully at least 1 makes it.

If it was me I would transfer 2 three day embryos. I personally wouldn't grow them to blast. Thats just what I would do but others may have different opinions. Unless I had a PGS tested embryo I would always transfer 2 and have except once when I only had 1 frozen. Good luck.

I know, it just makes me nervous to grow them to blast because although most docs will say that if they didn't make it to day 5 that means that they were most likely not viable embryos however there is still a chance that they can arrest because they weren't in their natural environment. My son was conceived from this batch and he was a 3 day transfer so I think I'm just going to stick with my gut and transfer 2 at day 3. Thank you ladies!

I personally believe that if they arrest between days 3 and 5, then they wouldn't give you a viable pregnancy anyway. A lot of clinics only do 5 day transfers now, for that reason. I'd grow them out. If they all arrest, then you know it's time for another fresh cycle.

Ugh, I'm so torn. I hate this. Why wouldn't they have just grown them out from the beginning then? I don't get it.

Yeah well that's the better question. Most REs don't freeze at day 3 for this reason. Sperm DNA kicks in during days 4 and 5, so if there's a problem with the sperm, you wouldn't see it until then anyway. That's why I vote to grow them out.

Personally, i would let them grow. For me it would be easier emotionally to have them not make it over seeing a BFN.
