I remember being in 2nd grade always running in for my mom asking for Newport Box cigarettes. If they tried to give me the soft pack, I'd say no, box. LOL. Ah, the good ol days. No one even batted an eye.
I used to buy tobacco for my grandpa when I was 7. I would walk to the corner store and back by myself. It was a small town but still, I can't imagine my kid doing it.

Re: Age to Run Quick Errands
I think it depends on the kid and situation/location.
My kids are always looking for independence, which I'm happy about!!! I have social anxiety and I don't want my kids to end up like me.
My 11 yo wanted a frozen hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts, so I told her "Sure...but you have to run in and get the dry cleaning first." After she got the dry cleaning, we headed over to Dunkin Donuts and both she and my 9 yo son (3rd grade) ran in to get some treats while I waited in the car with my 7 and 3 yo.
