Does your DH run errands for you? Update - and THIS is why I do everything
I never ever send DH on any errands for me. I'm too anal and need to get everything done my way --- and he's soooo the opposite that I can see him coming home with the wrong things.
With two weeks left, and a strong headed two year old it is getting harder and harder to do these things with him feeling the way I do.
Is it bad if I send DH on a few errands for me? Nothing crazy complicated. Buy some cards. Get some milk. Things like that.
I'm tempted to send him but being the control freak that I am, I wanted to see if your DH's did this as well.
Update: SOOOOOO - I send him to BJs to get our sons milk. Tell him to get 5 cartons of 2% Reduced Fat milk. I said I "think" it's the light blue writing. He comes home with 1% - which was the light blue writing. LOL LOL LOL I know - it's not a big deal - but it's the principle. Friggin pick up the phone and call me. He called me when picking out the cards. UGH! MEN!

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
Dh does our food shopping because he says I spend too much money
My husband is one of a kind though. He also cooks, cleans, takes care of the kids with me, etc.

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
Sometimes. Usually whenever I send him I get 10 phone calls asking me ridiculous questions, so I prefer to go. Most of the time he gets the wrong thing anyway so he's not doing me any favors by going

That's the thing - I hate all of the phone calls that come with the errands - but at this point, I can barely walk - I'm thinking I may just have to deal with it.

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
My DH doesnt mind running errands, he's pretty good about it except when I send him to the grocery store for 3 or 4 things, he'll come back with 10! I have to just give him $20 instead of the debit card lol.

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
yes he does, but thats b/c when he was a teenage he worked at shoprite so he likes to do the food shopping as he knows whats a good price/sale, etc..Plus being an accountant he actually looks at the unit price to see if its worth it He really has saved us $$. but I tend to do the smaller errands just b/c I am home 2 days a week (diapers, baby stuff, any food we run out of like milk or fruit), but if hes on his way home from work and I call to say we need something, he's great about going to get it (even though he also comes home with other items LOL)

As long as I ask him before he leaves work he'll do just about anything for me.

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
DH has and will do anything to help me. He used to offer to run errands, but I was too anal to take him up in it. Since I've been preggo, he does a lot for me. When I make a grocery list, I make it really specific and try to organize the list by the aisles in the store.
I have learned to let go some too. It took me a long time to learn that the world doesn't stop spinning when he buys fresh parsley instead of the dried kind.

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
Dh never ran errands and I was always too much of a control freak to let him
But, now at almost 32weeks with twins and with an active 2 1/2 year old I just can't do what I want. So I make him a DETAILED list and he has been running some errands here and there. He has been doing the food shopping which is great, because it totally wears me out. I make him a detailed list and last week he took DS with him and used coupons. When I told my MIL she almost fell on the floor!! Tomorrow I have 1 dr. appt.'s and he is off so he asked me if I needed him to do anything for me Which is totally not him. But he sees how worn out I am lately and is really trying to help out more.
The first time he went for a big food shop without me I was literally anxious while he was gone making sure he didn't forget anything......I am such a control freak about stupid stuff!!! What did I think....if he forgot something one of us couldn't go back and get it?!?!

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
If I ask him he does, but we both share the load of household duties and so he does more of the at home stuff and I do most of the errand type stuff. Works for us because I like to be out and about.

Its totally not about DH wanting to do the errands, its about him being able to do them well. I totally understand what you mean. I am so so picky and when we got married I did all the food shopping. But I know I will need help so we started training.
So I make elaborate lists with details, hang on to my phone and train him. Its much easier for him to get the right things now that to deal with my fits when he doesn't.
So it used to be 1 call per item. Now its like 1 call per 2 items. So we are progressing. And ... ...we can read expiration dates now. DH is amazed how many things have them
Hang it there, its like training a dog. Be consistent, follow through, reward, and you will reap the benefits.
GL!

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
we do the food shopping together but that will probably change once the baby comes.
DH does errands for me all the time and most of the time he gets stuff right.
Im pretty lucky
I would let your DH do them at this point.

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
Yes. Especially if he's still at work & I'm home & don't feel like going back out. He's great - usually calls with questions if they don't have what I'm looking for but for the most part he's right on.

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
I am totally the same way...total type A personality, even at home (I feel the need to do all the chores because it has to be done "right"). Well, after 2x being hospitalized with pre-term contractions I have finally given up and handed over the control to DH. It is really difficult, but it's necessary.
Considering how far along you are, I think it's absolutely appropriate that DH do some errands for you. We tend to forget that we are not superwomen. You are hauling precious cargo, he isn't. He should be totally fine with it!

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
Thanks everyone! I just sent him on two simple errands. He doesn't mind at all....I'm the crazy one. This will make my day much easier tomorrow....and there is nothing better than crossing something off the "To Do" list!

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
My husband has become especially helpful during this last trimester. I send him everywhere for me, although I have to give EXPLICIT directions if I want it done right!

Re: Does your DH run errands for you?
My DH has been food shopping and cooking lately because I work long hours and commute almost an hour each way. He has gotten A LOT better! Probably because he knows I will throw a tantrum if there is something I don't like in the bag

Re: Does your DH run errands for you? Update - and THIS is why I do everything
Unfortunatly yes and I hate it like you but I have no choice, I can no longer do it even on my best day....
I just posted on the Oct thread how I sent him to Target today and it was hysterical...4 phone calls...a few mishaps, mostly everything on the list ( plus some weird arse extras) but what can I do....
Right now he has to do it all...cause most days I cannot even drive.
Its hysetrical how differnt men are then women and this is really one of those ways you see it

Re: Does your DH run errands for you? Update - and THIS is why I do everything
I say if he is willing to do the errands let him. My DH always asks if we need anything when he is on his way home from work. He stops to pick things up like breadcrumbs, etc.. that we need for dinner that night. I have even asked him to buy tampons before, and he got the right ones. I am a lucky lady.

Re: Does your DH run errands for you? Update - and THIS is why I do everything
DH was always pretty good with doing errands for me especially when I was working a lot of overtime. It did take some practice though! He would constantly forget to get a rain check or use a coupon. As long as he has a list (which I write up) and the circular he is good to go.
