First grade chores
What chores does your first grader do? And do you use a rewards chart?

First grade chores
My DD makes her bed, cleans her room and playroom (putting away toys and sometimes dusts), puts her clean laundry away, helps me fold laundry, sets the table, collects the upstairs garbage cans and brings them down to all be emptied. No rewards chart - to us, those are just things that need to be done as part of a family.

Your DD does more than I do at home.

First grade chores
My 6 yr old has to bring his hamper of dirty clothes down to the laundry room every Saturday. I don't trust him to fold, but he will sort his socks and underwear when they come out of the dryer, and put them in the drawer. He also has to help his siblings clean the playroom each night before bed, helps set the table for dinner, and clears his own place (including scraping his food into the garbage and putting his dish in the sink). No rewards chart for chores. We have 5 kids- ranging in age from 6 down to 20 months. The only one who doesn't have chores yet is the baby. With 7 people in our house, everyone has to pitch in.

Re: First grade chores
I count it a win if my 2nd grader puts his clothes in the hamper without my kindergartener doing it for him!

Re: First grade chores
OMG - my 6 year old doesn't even get dressed by himself....
I know it's my fault, it's easier to help than to hear the whining.....

SAME!!!
although they're starting to get a little better (they're 7 and 4). The first grader clears his spot after meals/snacks, they'll sometimes take the recycling to the garage and help me empty the dishwasher if i remember to have them help me HAHA, and a lot of times i'll leave his clean clothes on his bed for him to put away himself. i'm pretty "type A" when it comes to this stuff though so i don't trust anybody else to do it "right", so its my own fault! LOL
I feel like as long as they're helping out with some stuff and learning what all needs to get done around the house, i'm happy.
My MIL never made my husband do a single thing around the house growing up, and it affects us a lot in our marriage, so I'm trying really hard not to raise my boys like that.

Re: First grade chores
Montessori has a decent chore chart by age that you can find if you google.
My kids (6&7) do set the table, clear their space to the dishwasher daily. They also pick up at the end of the day daily (well, most days). They put away folded clothes and can fold some themselves (not well, but it works).
They can vacuum and do it weekly (I ask). They also “windex” surfaces (I ask). That stuff is usually once a week.

Re: First grade chores
Yikes I make my kid do a lot of stuff, I didn't realize it was so much... he has to put his dishes in the sink after every meal, push in his chair & clean up any crumbs/ spills, helps set the table for dinner, he has to put his dirty clothes in the hamper every night & pick out new clothes/socks/underwear for the next day, helps fold clean laundry & match socks, helps take out the garbage, helps unload the dishwasher, puts away his toys & books back where they belong, he waters the garden, he likes to "clean" so he helps sweep the floor, dust, etc. (I don't make him do cleaning but he sees me do it & wants to do it too). He also helps a lot with the baby as far as bringing me diapers, wipes, etc. He likes helping so I don't think it feels like "chores" to him. His other brother is almost 3 & tries to do most of this stuff too.
