How far in advance is the best time to book flights?
DH and I are planning to go to the Bahamas for our 5 year anniversary this September. We already got a great deal on the hotel, but the flights seem to be like $900 roundtrip. I'm hesitant to book at this price, but then again I'm hesitant to wait because I'm not sure if they might go up in price. In general, when is the best time to book flights? DO you find that you get a better deal closer to your trip or if you book further in advance?

Is that 900$ per person? If so, that’s crazy! I got a round trip from Germany to NY for 600$.
I’ve had good luck booking tickets a week before I leave (it’s nerve racking, though). I find three to four months beforehand I get the best results. Have you tried Skyscanner.net? They really are the best for flights. However, you got the hotel, so that might make your search more difficult because of set dates.

3-4 months out I think is cheapest in my experience, and we fly a lot. Anything further than that, always seems to be $$$$$

I think usually about 3-4 months but do you have hopper? I use it all the time, it tells you based on historical pricing when its bound to go up or down.
Also, google flights. I track flights on there and it tells me when it is a good time to book. Just saved over $300 on a flight I was going to book due to this.

Book as soon as you can then.
I booked our flights for this past week- spring break- in Sept. And the prices kept going up ever since

I read 54 days... I am going to see if that is true lol. I have been stalking airlines for a trip I want to take at the end of June.
I will say when I went to Orlando last November, I booked in May and by August the prices went down a lot, I kicked myself because I could have saved over $400 in airfare.
