Mo Willems Pigeon books were a big hit when I read them. They are funny. If you are going to be guest reader around a holiday maybe a themed book.

My DS loves the book Never take a Shark to the Dentist- it's very funny and the illustrations are great

The kids have not read those books! He is the author and illustrator of Polar express.
I read “The Wretched Stone” for second. We had a cool discussion about it!
For first, I would do “Two bad ants” or the one about the hamster. Even Jumanji.
The illustrations are beautiful and the books are different from what everyone else will read!

There is a really cute new book out called We Don't Eat Our Classmates by Ryan T. Higgins. The Adventures of Beekle: An Unimaginary Friend is another cute one. Claymates, Creepy Carrots, Creepy Pair of Underwear, Memoirs of a Goldfish are all good choices too!

Someone read this in my sons class last year and he was talking about it still the other day.
I have read the Book with no Pictures, Mo Willems books, Memoirs of a Goldfish and Memoirs of a Hamster. Oh and the Day the Crayons Quit and the Day the Crayons Came Home.
