Need book recommendations for 1st grade level reader
I am getting my cousins DD reading books and workbooks for her bday. Her mother told me to get her 1st grade level but I have no clue what to get.

Need book recommendations for 1st grade level reader
It depends on her reading level really...does her mom know what letter reads? Amelia Bedelia, the "If You Give a"(Laura Numeroff) series, or maybe Dr. Seuss

Re: Need book recommendations for 1st grade level reader
These are some popular book titles that I can think of. I have a 1st and 3rd grade boys so tried to think what could be girlie or unisex.
Junie B jones Series Amelia Bedelia Series Magic Tree House Series Magic School Bus Series Or maybe step 3 readers (they sell books labeled step 1, 2, 3 - not sure what level there she is but I'd think maybe a 3). My 1st grader loves non-fiction best - esp books about animals. These type

Totally not directing this at you, but I would hear this from parents all the time (I'm a teacher) and it was such a pet peeve! There is more to reading than just reciting the words-comprehension has so much to do with a child's reading level. Does she know her letter (or color) reading level?
