road trip ideas
Looking for some suggestions for a 3-5 day road trip with my kids, (12,10 and 10) over easter break. My husband is away for work, so its just the 4 of us. Boston is at the top of my list right now, but open to more ideas.

Re: road trip ideas
We are going to Williamsburg va in May. It’s like 7-8 hours though so you would prob want to take the 5 days for that one.
Sorry to highjack but does anyone know Of a good hotel to stay in DC?

there are a number of great ones, how much are you looking to spend? Wherever you decide, always ask about parking though, some charge a lot of $ per night. Also, make sure you are in walking distance of museums and what not ( if thats what you are going for).

We want to stop on the way to Virginia and spend one night and the day sightseeing or whatever. I don’t even know where to start. Are there good areas and not so good areas? I’d rather not spend too much but I’m not sure what would be reasonable for the area.

We are stopping on there on our way back from the Carolinas in two weeks. We choose a Springhill Suites on the outskirts (VA). I really wanted to stay in heart of DC and walking distance to everything but the hotel prices for that week are insane! I am conformable with the Metro there (its very easy) so we are staying at a cheaper hotel and will take the Metro into the city to sightsee. Not ideal but the prices were over $300/400 a night for the closer hotels.

The subway there is so easy and SO much nicer and cleaner than NYC. We stayed in the Dupont Circle area which is very residential and just took the subway a stop or 2 to the sightseeing areas. It was fine!
