Weight loss stalling the closer to goal

I started out with 30 lbs to lose. So far I've lost 18 lbs, although it has been on average 1lb a week, so not too quickly. But lately my weight has been hovering around the same weight the last few weeks. Anyone have an issue of weight loss slowing down at some point and how to get it going? I have another 12 lbs to lose to get to my goal.

a few things come to mind... question and thoughts.

* is it a real stall/plateau or has it just slowed down?
* have you tried taking measurements vs just relying on the scale for data about your progress?
* are you eating for maintenance or for weight loss? the closer you get to your goal, the smaller the difference is between the two.
* how much water are you drinking? i've broken through two plateaus by increasing/paying closer attention to my water intake.
* are you sleeping 7-9 hours each night?
* if your weight has slowed down... do the math. are you still losing the same percentage? you might still be doing well, but the percentages just equal numbers.

i hit a plateau when i reached about 157-160
i then hit another one when i reached 152-155
i'm at a new one, right now. i'm bouncing between 145-148

in the last few days, i've increased my water to 75oz/day. i'm paying much closer attention to my sleep. and one additional thing i'm concentrating on is leaving two bites behind at every meal i eat. since i started doing this, i have lost 0.8.

my final goal is 135. i'm so close i can taste it.

i hope that helps

The less you have to lose, the longer it takes. It's just the way it is. Try changing up what you eat, a lot of times we tend to eat the same foods over and over again and try changing up your workouts/activity. Just stick with it. Even if you are only losing ounces per week, you will still be losing! I know it can be frustrating, but you will get there!

All of this, plus recheck your food measurements. Not sure what plan you are following, but if you've stopped using the food scale or measuring cups then get those back out and in action.

I've been noticing I've been nibbling more lately - nothing crazy but I need to reign it in.

Thank you all! Oddly enough I found by having a cheat day, it worked in my favor. I had a family party at an Italian restaurant and so I ended up eating things I normally do not eat (some fried calamari, etc. I tried not too go crazy though!) Maybe I need to shake things up because I do tend to eat the same foods every day.

I'm on WW and find that when I eat the same things every day, my weight loss stalls. I need to shake things up a bit to have a good loss, like switching in oatmeal for breakfast instead of my usual eggs. Choosing a different snack.
As it was explained, the body gets used to the "usual" foods and then doesn't have to work so hard. So an occasional cheat day can rev up the metabolism.
