LaGuardia to LIRR
I have a friend coming in from OOS in a few weeks. He is flying into LaGuardia. Is it possible/easy to get to the LIRR from that airport? If so, how?
Thanks!

Re: LaGuardia to LIRR
There's a bus that goes from the Woodside station to LGA. I'd probably uber or cab it from the airport to the station though.

From LGA to my house? It's pretty far and would be pretty $$$ (I'm in central Suffolk)

Re: LaGuardia to LIRR
Easiest to Uber or yellow cab it to the Woodside RR station.
Bus is the Q70 which goes thru the airport to Woodside. He will need exact change ($2.75 in coins no bills) for the bus.

No, Uber from LGA to Jamaica station I did it once after a work trip- it was quick and cheap.
ETA- or woodside station but sometimes you wait at Woodside a while for a train.

Re: LaGuardia to LIRR
It’s about $25 - $30 to Uber from LGA to Jamaica. I used to do that a lot. Just give him the heads up that with all the construction at LGA, it’s a bit chaotic. I did this a few weeks ago & there were at least 100 people waiting for Uber’s. It took about 20 minutes for my Uber to show...and the driver said that was quick because he uses the bus lane lol. I have to do this next Friday & I’m dreading it. Going to LGA isn’t too bad...but getting out sucks right now.

He's coming in pretty late-ish (lands after 9 pm), so hopefully it won't be as bad, but thanks for the heads-up

Is he familiar with NY? To land that late and then have to find your way to Suffolk County is annoying. Plus, later at night LIRR does not run as frequently.
You may just want to price a car service. It may not save him that much to take the train and he would have to also take Uber, wait for a train, and get picked up from the train station. It will be much quicker to just take a car service.

Re: LaGuardia to LIRR
I'd probably just Uber it to Woodside. From there he may have to switch at Jamaica.

Depends where he's going. Woodside is Ronkonkoma line so no need to switch if he needs to Ronkonkoma line. If not I'd Uber right to Jamaica. Easier

Yup you're right about just going to Jamaica. We took the train to citifield this past weekend. On the way home we had to switch at both Woodside and then again at Jamaica, it was a PITA especially since we had our two tired kids with us.

Yes, he’ll need to be on the Ronkonkoma line, so it shouldn’t be too bad. And he’s a pretty seasoned traveler,, so I don’t think it’ll be too much for him to figure out.
Thanks!

If using the LIRR on a weekend- make sure you check the website for any track work. Ex: This weekend there is no service between some stations on the Ronkonkoma line http://web.mta.info/supplemental/lirr/cherrylanebridgeinstallation.htm
