Flood insurance
Anyone purchase flood insurance and NOT live in a designated flood area?
We just moved into an area that has several Brooks running in the area. We dont have any right in any neighboring yards but some areas in our town have been prone to some flooding.
I dont know if I am just being paranoid but with all this rain lately it's got me kind of nervous.

Re: Flood insurance
We did. Our home was flooded after Sandy, the new maps designate the home in a flood zone now. The maps are not totally reliable, no one can truly know where water can go, just a best guess.
You would need to look into flood insurance specifications to see if it covers flood due to rain, storm surge or high water table. The only reason we eventually got compensated is because we proved water came in through the windows and not due to rain or high water table. Each flood insurance is not the same.
