Sleeping with windows open?

Anyone sleep with windows open? Now that it’s so much cooler out, I would love to sleep with the windows open especially it feels warmer in my house even with central AC on then it is outside. I can’t get past the fear though of someone coming in at night to the house. I would never leave the lower levels open, my bedrooms are on our 3rd floor and i still can’t get past it, even with the alarm on at night, am I the only one?!?

Re: Sleeping with windows open?

Our windows have a safety lock so that you can keep them open a good crack and they can't be lifted any higher.
You can install them on your own if your windows don't come with them. Home Depot sells them

The 3rd floor??? Lol. I think you’ll be ok. I always have my windows wide open once it cools off.

I don’t have them on mine, I’ll look for them at Home Depot! Thanks!

I'm not afraid of someone coming in; I am afraid of a bug slipping thru. Even with the screen on. Chat Icon

And that is why I don't open my bedroom windows. Chat Icon

Re: Sleeping with windows open?

I open them only a crack. Mainly because I fear one of my dogs hearing something and jumping out! But 2nd floor bedroom, without the fear of my dogs jumping, id open them all the way.

We also have a huge dog, alarm system and other options to deal with an Intruder. So maybe I feel a little safer bc of those things? If you don’t feel safe, don’t do it. You’ll never sleep !

This is exactly me. I live surrounded by woods so while I love the chilly air, I wouldn't be able to sleep thinking of the amount of extra bugs that were creeping in.
There's so much wildlife here as well.
I don't want to hear those guys more than I do now.
Windows shut, central air it is.

Re: Sleeping with windows open?

When the weather gets like my avatar pic of my yard, we do crack the windows since most bugs are dead.

Hysterical; same here! Chat Icon

I am also surrounded by woods, so that is definitely part of the fear. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Sleeping with windows open?

I am not scared of someone breaking in while we are sleeping. They would have to scale our second story, which is impossible without a ladder due to how our house is set up.

With that said, I can not stand the outside noise so we never sleep with the windows open.
