S/O to sleeping w/windows open... how hot before AC?
i believe this gets asked every so often... so here goes version 2014.
how warm does it need to be for you to turn on your AC?

I have zero tolerance for heat (especially when I'm sleeping) so the second the house starts feeling warm the a/c goes on. I've been running them off and on for a few weeks now.

Same here.
I get so annoyed when it's too hot. And forget about trying to sleep without the AC. I'd be tossing & turning & punching the walls all night.

My house tends to get hot very quickly, even when it's not that hot outside. So when it hits 74 in the house, the ac goes on. Even with windows open our house cooks.

ive turned on the ac MAYBE 3-4 times last summer. my place is pretty cool since i hae a ton of trees and a golf course across the street. nice shade, too!
my bfs place is a sauna! i asked him to turn on the ac last night and he wanted to make sure i didnt have a fever. he was SHOCKED! 
i guess 85 degrees INDOORS means the ac is getting turned on

You have a high tolerance for a warm house. 
My house gets to like 68-69 degrees and I'm twitching. That's when my a/c goes on. I'm a heat wimp.

The two 80 + degree days we had prior to this week killed me (currently 29 weeks pregnant), the ceiling and floor fans were not cutting it. We are also on the 2nd floor so all the heat rises and you can feel the temperature change as you walk up the steps. When it hits 78 degrees in the house I need the a/c, but I was like this pre-pregnancy too.
DH finally put the a/c in yesterday.

Warm is one thing...humidity is another! We had our ACs on last night because it was so muggy.

DH would turn it on when the house goes over 70.
For me, the house would have be over 78 degrees.
I hate AC and I hate being cold.

Same here. I much prefer an open windows, ceiling fan, skylights open. We lived in our house for probably 4 years before we turned on the ac's in the living room. It took a heatwave and a newborn for me to even try them out. We do use window units in our bedroom when it's close to 80 or higher at night.

Since my husband is the hot one and he works nights the AC doesn't go on until he comes home (hasn't been hot enough yet). My neighbors upstairs had their unit on last night and I don't understand why since I was getting a nice breeze from the open windows.

Ours have been on and off for a few weeks as well. I prefer the hot weather but I need it to be cool in the home in order to sleep and function.

I hate AC and I hate being cold.
same here. i hate having to wear a sweater in the summer because everyone has the AC on so strong.
granted, this is where knitting comes in handy... i at least have pretty wraps to wear in restaurants and movies, etc.

we have window AC and they are not installed yet I have no tolerance for heat either but right now downstairs its not bad my bedroom is downstairs with the celing fans and window is open I am good however upstairs to me is unbearable I told my DH he has to intall the AC soon. My DC rooms are up there and I have no idea how they can tolerate the heat up there if it was me I would not be sleeping upstairs

I had mine on this morning and it was only in the low 60's. BUT....I was drying and straightening my hair and it was just too hot.
We don't go by a temperature, just like heat. If I am hot, it goes on.

The last few warm days we had to put the A/C on. My bedroom was over 80 degrees and I can not sleep when I am hot. I would say if its almost 80 the A/C will be on at some point in the day. We don't keep it on all day though. When we aren't home the windows are shut and we keep the ceiling fans running.

Love the windows open, but we have lots of windows and sun shines right in so it gets hot fast in the summer. Plus, DS has bad allergies.
I put the fan on in all the rooms, which helps. My issue with the windows open at night are the birds chirping all morning keeping me up. Drives me nuts! LOL! I'm a light sleeper.

Ours is already on but our house retains heat so it's always very warm. I try to use the ceiling fans instead when I can.

Our upstairs gets very hot. It coul dbe 74 and comfortable downstairs but it'll be 78 upstairs even with the ceiling fans on and windows open. If it's anything warmer than 74 upstairs, the a/c goes on. I can't sleep when it's too hot and I don't want my DS sweating through the night (his room gets the hottest because he has huge windows that face the sun all day).
