Dog eats poo
Sorry this is gross.
We got a new dog, 9 months old. He won’t stop eating his poo. After he goes we try to clean it up but he swirls to eat it before it’s even out of him. I tried bitter apple and lemon spray on the poo and his mouth as a deterrent but it doesn’t work. We have had him for 2 months. Dog just had vet exam and he is healthy. He has access to plenty of food and water and is rarely left alone and if so it’s for more than 2 hours. He gets plenty of attention. His poop is perfectly formed and he eats his food very well(hence a lot of poo). What else can I do? Will he grow out of it? I am having trouble attaching and loving him because of this, I actually throw up sometimes when he is doing this.

Dog eats poo
I had a dog that did this and like you I would literally vomit! I have a really weak stomach She may grow out of this behavior but try adding Canned pumpkin, meat tenderizer, pineapple juice or spinach to your dogs food Oddly enough it makes their poop taste bad and is actually good for them

Re: Dog eats poo
My SIL dogs used to eat each other's poop.
The vet told her to add meat tenderizer to the food and it would make the poop taste less appealing. Can you imagine having to make poop taste less appealing? Yikes! The life of a dog!

I would try pineapple. Exactly which food are you feeding him?

Dog eats poo
My dog ate our older dogs poop. We would literally have to stand right next to the dog as he was going to pick it up. The younger one has finally grown out of it. Probably between 1.5 - 2 years old.
