Covid yearbooks
My senior son just got his yearbook yesterday and it is so weird to look at. Other than the indiviual photos, everyone is wearing a mask in every team, club, and candid photo. It's really hard to even make out who is who!
I told him he needs to keep it as he will have a lot of stories to tell his kids when they look at it. Crazy.

Re: Covid yearbooks
What I find hilarious is the class picture! They took photos of each kid individually (no masks at least) standing up and then they photoshopped them all together so they looked like they were standing together as a class. But it came out a little off- like some kids looked like giants or as if they had huge, out of proportion heads. It was hysterical
The individual pics were done outside and they had no masks on thank God

Covid yearbooks
I felt the same for my middle schoolers yearbook - I had to look really closely to find him - everyone looks the same in whatever theme-wear day it was with masks on.
The principal said if there was ever a year to buy a yearbook it was this year as it was so unique.

All the team photos are outside but they are all still masked, I guess they were taken early when the numbers were high still. The whole yearbook is just so weird to look at. And the drama club photos are all individual Zoom screenshots!! Haha.

Covid yearbooks
I was on the committee for yearbook (elementary school). We really tried strike a good balance of masked/non-masked, google classroom/in person photos . Things were so different- we have mask and non-mask pics. (we took photos outside, so they didn't have to wear masks). We didn't have any events this year, so we filled in with other stuff. We didn't want the whole book to be about Covid, but we couldn't document this crazy year without including it.

OMG yes. I said the same thing but it was really disturbing looking and probably will look worse in 20 years lol.

Honestly for the 5 minutes or even less it would have taken to snap a picture they could have pulled their masks down. I thought it took longer to transmit Covid. They could have had the kids outside, masked, lined them up, gotten ready, had them pull the mask down real quick and snapped the damn picture in seconds. Ridiculous in my opinion.

While it is no secret that I think masks in schools have been ridiculous for a long time now, unfortunately the schools have to follow those guidelines put out by our lovely governor and the DOH. They just lifted the mask mandate for outdoors a few weeks ago. Its sounds easy to say just pull down the masks for quick picture, but in reality, god forbid someone got covid during that time, the school could be held legally responsible because they were not following guidelines. I actually feel bad for school administrators this year as they are getting the brunt of parent frustrations and it is really not their fault.

for the class picture they should have just did squares of each students pic like a yearbook. That is what they did for my son. The photoshop was not the brightest idea. Lol.

That’s what they did for my younger sons class too - squares of school pics. They couldn’t do a class pic otherwise since they were hybrid until April lol.

This- word for word actually. All of the individual pics were horrible because they thought it was a good idea to stick the kids in direct sunlight. Most of them had their eyes closed.

this is what we did and it really looks even better than normal class pics IMO. We tried to do class pics of Bitmojis (we asked all kids to send them in), but not everyone did, so we ended up with this and it looks great.

They always do individual photo blocks for the class picture at our district.

They canceled our first picture day because of light rain - and the make up day was freezing with heavy rain so they all look horrible and less than thrilled. Every kid in the A cohort is in a hooded sweatshirt since they were taken outside. The B kids are in short sleeved attire since they had a beautiful day.
