Re: How do I tell my Nanny we would prefer she not wear perfume???

This question sparked my interest b/c we have this issue with my stepmother. It doesn't seem to hurt or bother the baby but it drives me nuts except I don't know of a tactful way to ask her not to do it. It's funny b/c I like perfume but I don't put it on if I'm just hanging out with DD so I don't get why others do but to each his own. I'll put it on if I'm getting dressed and going somewhere but not to watch her in the house. sorry I can't be of any help I was curious if anyone else had a suggestion.

No suggestions but read your question...I think its one of those things...some women, particularly older women just seem to wear perfume daily..almost like putting on underwear, lol.

You can't say anything, especially if your DD isn't bothered by it. Remember-we were prob all smothered by well meaning perfume laden ladies when we were little, lol!

I would definitely say that it's bothering the baby's skin and you because you all have sensitive skin. Also, you could say it gives you a migraine, I have somebody at work like that and she has politely asked that we tone down the perfume. I'm sure she will understand.

I personally would not care nor say anything.

But she is your nanny...I wear perfume and my dd smells like mine sometimes, I do not see the harm, but that is just me.

** UPDATE**
So I spoke to my nanny and expressed my feelings and she was fine with it, not insulted at all and said she understands if it bothers us, no wonder we love her!!!

IMO a baby should smell like a baby not like a perfume bottle.

I totally am with you in this one!

Just flat out ask her not to wear it. she can spray herself with it after she leaves.
The end.

I feel exactly the same way and my nanny wears perfume. DS does not smell like he has bathed in it but I dont want him smelling like her perfume. I have been pondering the same question "how do I ask her nicely not to wear it".
