What a beautiful dog! Rhodesians are known to have a lot of energy. Just some words of advice (to take, or leave!) for finding her a quality forever home that I hope you find helpful! Home visit, vet references and a small donation help to weed out most harmful people. I would also encourage anyone potentially adopting this dog from you to research the breed as I would hate to see this baby is the same situation two years down the road! Best of luck to you and prayers for your dog that her next home will be forever!

Just to make it clear, her breed has NOTHING to do with why we need to rehome her.

I would definitely encourage someone to research this breed (the vet seems to think she is mostly Rhodesian ridgeback) because they need to much exercise and attention, but she's a fantastic dog.

I knew her breed wasn't the reason you were giving her up. Just thought this info. would help, as you said she's only 19 months old, is a chewer, play-nipper, chaser and high energy. With all due respect, when potential adopters research breeds (the good, the bad and the ugly!) it is highly likely that they will be this dog's forever home. Best of luck to you and your family.

I understood it that you were rehoming her because she is of a high energy breed that requires so much on a daily basis that you/your DH cannot meet her needs for exercise. I think this was thinkinglikemommys point re the breed and people researching the breed beforehand to really understand what her daily needs entail (but clearly you give plenty of background and description above).

First of all, see above - thinkinglikemommy was making a point about her breed, she did not think that was why she was being rehomed. I honestly didn't think she did either, but I wanted to clarify for anyone reading the post (as she did as well). I think it's helpful for potential owners to know as much as they can about our dog.

Secondly, please don't assume anything about this situation. I didn't post anything in my OP about rehoming her because of her breed, I specifically said we don't want to rehome her but we have to, and anyone who is genuinely interested in adopting her is free to FM me to ask the reason why.

You are totally right, I did not mean for my response to imply that you thought it was the reason why, I just wanted other posters to understand that our hands are tied and this isn't the reason why she needs a new home.

Re: We need to rehome our dog, Lexi

this is an amazing dog, I have first hand played with her!!

I wish I could take her.

I also want to mention, I believe that your best friends training transfers to the new owners, so they are able to take her to the group classes for life. thats a huge expense that they won't have to foot. the e-collar is about $250! and classes are for the life of the dog
