We are only have a big party because we had a very small naming (only immediate family) and really want the opportunity to celebrate our daughter. It is more for us then her. It will be at my parent's house though so it won't be over the top! After this year, we will only have family and maybe have a kids party depending on age and her interests.

we went back and forth but decided we would rather spend hte money on something else than a party he wouldnt remember.

So we did 2 small parties, one with each side of the family (as it would be about 40 people combined we thought it was too much for the middle of december in the house!)
If it was summer I would have done a bigger bbq.

We decided that we will buy him a swing set in the spring with his "party" money and then have a mid sized family bbq in the summer just for the heck of it, not as a b-day party.
