please do not read this story if things truly get to you b/c well its horrific imo..yet i couldnt resist posting and expressing my shock...

Wow, that is pretty shocking - I definitely wasn't expecting that.
I did wonder why the mother would leave her child alone with the dog though...I don't understand why people continue to do that.

Horrible Story
I feel terrible that the child had to go through this. 
I do have to say, WT.F are these IDIOT parents thinking by leaving their toddler alone with an animal? I know this may be controversial, but I don't think the dog is at fault, nor do I think the animal should be punished in any way. It's a DOG!!! PARENTS should have brains enough not to do such a STUPID thing! I don't care HOW "nice" your pet is, or what a loving nature it has. It's still an ANIMAL and it should not be left unattended with a child. Ugh!

I guess I am an idiot because I do leave my dog alone with Andrew. When I am upstairs the dog and Andrew have free run. And even after hearing this story will still let them both have free run upstairs.

it is definitely not a good idea to leave the baby and dog alone...sorry

i am not sure what type of dog u have but i cant imagine a tiny poodle (or something tiny of that nature) sodomizing a child compared to the damage a pit bull can do...i think a parent just needs to be EXTRA careful when leaving any type of dog that is extremely large or has tendecies of being dangerous around kids

As a future parent with a dog this is scary...you can never trust a dog...they have that instinct and can attack whenever.
My dog is an absolute sweetheart who would never hurt a fly...but he is very protective...very...the other day I was walking him and he almost attacked my neighbor (I had him on a retractable leash) who has a vicious dog that always wants to tear Max apart...I was so freaked out by his behavior that when I got home I was shaking...I got really scared...I guess my point is that a dog is a dog, an animal with instincts and we can't predict how they will behave...especially around children...that's why you have to be ultra careful.

I wish I hadn't read that.
We have a dog - a 12 year old, 7lb Chihuahua, and there are times that Alex is playing in the other room for a minute or two, and Sparky is in there with her, when I'm in the next room. It wouldn't even cross my mind that he would ever do anything to harm her - he's so old and fragile, and he simply adores her.
I don't know, perhaps if I had a bigger dog, I'd think twice...

I have a 60-lb. pit bull, and while she has a wonderful temperment with children, I would never leave her unsupervised with a child. Likewise, I also wouldn't leave my mush-of-a-dog yellow lab alone with a baby either. You just never know.

That could be one of the strangest things I've read.
How did the dog sodomize the baby?
The baby wasn't clothed - I totally don't get it....
And where would the dog learn such behaviour....

Children, out of curiosity pull tails and ears and do silly things because they do not know better. You NEVER know how a dog is going to react. I would NEVER under ANY circumstances leave a child alone with a dog. I almost had my face torn off by a doberman when I was 7 and all I did was look at it.

more bad rep for pitbulls
number 1- you dont EVER leave your dog in an unattended room with a baby/toddler. i guess once they start school, its a little different. and this goes to people who have great danes or people who have yorkies.... they dont know their own strength
number 2- why wasnt he neutuered. not being neutered, dogs tend to be a little more ggressive, "horny". i dont believe he wanted to intentionally hurt the baby
number 3- was the kid naked
number 4- i feel bad for the dog and hope hes adoptable again.

Let me say that I am a TOTAL dog lover... but.. would YOU want a dog that "raped" a child? I don't believe it's a learned behavior, but once the animal does it... he might be prone to do it again.
My grandparents used to have the most cuddly, mushy akita you've ever met. Dog was a doll... loved everyone!! One day my grandma was walking him and a teeny little dog got out of his house and ran up to my grandmother.. Kojak (the akita) grabbed the dog by the neck and in 2 shakes the dog was dead. My grandmother was in shock.. how could her cuddly mushy dog do such a thing.. About 2 months later the same thing happened. Kojak killed another little dog that ran towards my grandmother. Doesn't seem believeable right? Anyway, Kojak was sent to an Akita rescue ranch... but to be adopted again? I just don't know...
