And an animal without a voice is being blamed......there are people who obviously see the same thing I do and know what will happen to this poor animal if he's not adopted.

Of course the dog didn't intend to hurt the baby, they obviously don't have the ability to reason.
However, if the dog did do this (I think the story is BS too) it should be put to sleep. Just because it didn't know it was raping and hurting a child doesn't negate the fact that it happened.
Once an animal exhibits behavior like this there should be no second chances. Second chances make second victims.

this isnt a "bring your dog to the store" thread.
this is a real news story and a child is severly hurt.
just because it has a dog and there are ppl defending it doesnt mean a Days of our Lives song is relevant.

well i still highly disagree. had the dog ATACKED the baby i would be singing a different tune. but humping? no, dogs should not be put down for doing something that comes natural to them

Not necessarily. This dog didn't MAUL the child. Yes, it was horrible what he did, but it's a behavior that can be modified. And maybe the dog should be in a house with no children, but it should not be put to sleep.

dog bites the neighbor - what do you do
now we have, dog rapes the kid, what do you do
different topic - same old song and dance
you have the kid lovers on one side, and you have the pet lovers on the other.

I have to agree. It's similar to the poor Golden who strangled the little girl BY ACCIDENT, because he thought they were playing.
Does that make the situation less unfortunate or OK? No, but the dog wasn't being vicious, just doing what comes naturally.

i dont think this is a dog lover vs child lover debate AT ALL WHATSOEVER.
YOU always make it out to be that, but its not, especially in THIS case.

I agree...he didn't mean to hurt the baby. It's like any dog who humps your leg or humps it's toy. They're not attacking you.

I feel terrible that the child had to go through this.
I do have to say, WT.F are these IDIOT parents thinking by leaving their toddler alone with an animal? I know this may be controversial, but I don't think the dog is at fault, nor do I think the animal should be punished in any way. It's a DOG!!! PARENTS should have brains enough not to do such a STUPID thing! I don't care HOW "nice" your pet is, or what a loving nature it has. It's still an ANIMAL and it should not be left unattended with a child. Ugh!

But I do agree that it seems like there are some pieces of the story missing...I mean a typical two year old is still in diapers right? Did the dog rip off the diaper to to this? Was the dog fixed? Just seems odd.
