18 month old sleeping question
We got DD in a bad habit of sitting with her in the rocking chair until she fell sleep. She was pretty good for a while and would fall asleep within 15 minutes. The past 2 weeks it could take up to an hour. Does anyone else still do this with their child? Is it possible to break her out of this habit at this age?

Re: 18 month old sleeping question
Cailen needed to do this until he was 13 mts old. Then we let him cry himself to sleep. now he has a bottle before bed - just a few sips - but lately he stopped that and he goes to bed with a little Elmo doll. He knows it represents bed time, and it does something to soothe him!!!

Re: 18 month old sleeping question
We did this with DD until she was 15 months old (she's 18 months old now). We had to stop and do CIO because we would rock her for about 30 minutes and the second we would put her down she would wake up. We would then rock her again. And she never slept through the night. Being pregnant it was getting harder for me to hold her and rock her and when she would wake in the middle of the night DH and I would be too tired to rock so we would just put her in bed with us. It was a horrible "routine" we set for her. Now because of CIO she goes to bed at 6:00pm (awake) and sleeps till 7:00am. It's great.

Re: 18 month old sleeping question
I rocked my dd to sleep until she was 12 months. Then she started resisting my rocking so I began putting her into her crib awake and let her CIO...the most she will cry for is 5-10 minutes, sometimes she babbles for a while and then it is off to sleep
would you be willing to try CIO. It may be the only thing that will work
good luck

Re: 18 month old sleeping question
We have no problem getting Taylor to bed, normally, she goes into the crib willingly. The problem is that she wakes up in the middle of the night most nights and doesnt want to go back to sleep
