1st Bday gift idea
Any suggestions for a 1st birthday gift?
Some background that perhaps can help you with an idea because i'm stuck:
1. it's for my nephew. 2. SIL is Catholic, her husband is Jewish. We thought they are were christening the baby but that didn't happen, so we haven't gotten anything significant for him (we were saving that for the christening)....but now, any ideas I had for the christening that I could have done for a first birthday might be inappropriate if they really are not going to christen him (gold cross, rosary, etc.) 3. they have PLENTY of money... so me sending down a savings bond or a check for $100.00 while it would probably be appreciated, is just not needed. 4. this kid has all the designer clothes, tons of toys (everything from the water table to the tunnel to everything in between) and really wants for nothing... SOOO....
WHAT THE HECK DO WE GET THIS KID? i feel like it should be something nice because besides a few outfits and a toy at christmas, we haven't gotten him anything yet (they live in Florida).
Creative suggestions welcome! TIA!

Maybe a G/C for portraits at a local studio ?
Kids book of the month club ( or something along those lines)
Gymboree/My Gym G/C if they have those down there...
Disney stock ?
Buy him his own "star"

Re: 1st Bday gift idea
One of DS' gifts from us is this baby-ware set...
Made by Noble Clay . Very nice to deal with. Very good turnaround.
You can get a set or one piece (I actually saw a bowl of DH's nephew [he's 7 and keeps little things like cars and coins in it now] in FL and loved it and looked it up when we got home). They personalize it with whatever you want and will carve in a message from you on the bottom of each piece.
Whether they use it or display it, I think it would be a nice gift for your situation.

How about a name bracelet -- that way it would still be jewelry but not religious.
I think a Gymboree gift card is also a good idea :)
