Small backyard BBQ.
I say small but it usually grows. Anyway, it's all about DD and she won't even remember it anyway so I have no need for favors or entertainment. I suppose that will come to under $500 or thereabouts.

Re: 1st birthday with poll- how much did/will u spend
I probably spent about $2000 on Ava's first Birthday, it may have been more.
I rented a tent, table and chairs. We had it in our backyard in July. I had the Collesium Caterers come and BBQ. It was great they brought their own tent, grill, food,drinks-everything. I also bought beer, wine and desserts.
For entertainment we had Elmo and a clown.
I know it was a lot of money, but we really enjoyed ourselves. If I have the funds for #2, I would love to have a similar party..

Re: 1st birthday with poll- how much did/will u spend
Well, I never had a party for DS's 1st, so we spent nothing on his. We had just moved here and all my family lived out of state, so we just celebrated on xmas when we went to visit since DS's bday is in Jan.
DD's bday is turning out to be more expensive that I had hoped due to the entertainment factor, but I am REALLY thrifty in other aspects of my life, so I felt like it was okay to splurge a little this time. I'm making her cake, doing inexpensive favors and doing a hero and making some other food so it shouldn't be too bad.

Re: 1st birthday with poll- how much did/will u spend
We had almost 100 people at a restaurant and after that cost, decorations, balloons, favors and a clown it was close to $4000. I was a little over the cost myself, but since we didn't have a religious party (no briss or baptism) we felt the need to have a big family party. However, this was a one time thing. His future bdays will be pizza with the immediate family and then a kids party.
