1st day of daycare: Better than I thought **updated**
I know a lot of us have posted that we're starting daycare this week. For those of you moms still at work, I picked up DS at noon and it went better than I thought. DS is 10.5 months old, btw....
He never napped, he ate less than half of what he normally eats, but was all smiles and that's all that matters!!!!!!!! They said he never fussed or cried, which I'm so happy to hear.
They told me that he eats a lot and when I looked at how much they served, I couldn't believe how SMALL the portion was! LOL I guess he'll adjust and they'll feed him more snacks than he's used to eating.
He also didn't nap at 10am - they said they tried to put him down for a nap but just stood in his crib and jumped up and down laughing the entire time. (that's my boy!) He's been home for 2 hrs now and is passed out COLD! I'm sure he'll learn to nap there, but in time....
Walking in the room, I got the biggest smile of all and he gave me a huge hug! Then he walked (cruised) around the room and showed me tons of things. It's like he was giving me a tour of his new classroom! It was great!
To the other moms with LOs in daycare for the first time, it really will be okay. I cried so hard after dropping him off, but smiled so big when I picked him up.
**UPDATE**
I just wanted to update... when I dropped Kenny off this morning he was sooooo happy to be there. He didn't even notice I walked out. Now lets just hope he eats and sleeps! (He napped for over 2 hrs when we got home yesterday)

Not officially walking, but taking a few steps to get from point A to point B. (previously he'd crawl if even just a foot or two) So, walking longer distances is just a matter of confidence....

DS will start daycare on Tuesday! Hes been with my MIL all summer!

I am so happy to read this!!! He seems so laid back that I knew he would do fine. Now that he had such a great first day, Im sure tomorrow will be easier on you.

i'm so glad to hear this ... my DS will be starting daycare in a few weeks for 3 days a week. when i went back to work after my maternity leave, family watched him and that put me at ease. now that the summer's over, i'm back to work and family will only watch him 2 days a week. i'm sure he'll do fine, but i can't help but be a nervous mommy!

So glad to hear how well it went!! He will fall into the daycare routine in no time- I'm sure he was just full of excitement about the novelty of it all today. And like you said, he was beaming, and that's what matters!
