I just heard about the OH on the news. It's so sad how frequently we hear about these.

It’s not going to end. It’s our new normal. It’s just a blip on the news now. No one cares...

First off, I feel sorry for the victims and their families.
However, this is the time to get political. I don’t care if anyone thinks I’m being insensitive (I don’t think it’s insensitive to want to save others from this happening to them in the future with legislation), but nothing has been done since Columbine 20 years ago.
Quite frankly, I’m tired of it. But I won’t hold my breath for anything to change.

Re: 2 Mass Shootings within 24 Hours
With Texas we know it’s a 21 year old guy. 21 years old. Think about that for a second. Why? 21 is a baby himself. What makes a 21 year old kid turn Into an absolute disgusting animal ? Supposedly found writings about being tired of the Hispanic uptick in Texas. Wtf. Playing Call of duty in real life?? Does he have family? Where the **** are they? Are they racist pigs too?
What should be part of the background checks today:
1. Do they post at any time racists remarks that can be taken as dangerous 2. Do they spend more time playing video games with shooting rampages then speaking to other humans in real life 3. Do they look you in the ******* eye when you speak to them 4. Actual real mental health check by a professional 5. Renew gun license every 2-3 years. You never know if someone is perfectly fit gets a brain tumor, brain Injury due to fall, began taking drugs, etc. and now that has changed their ability to own and operate a firearm.
It’s inconvenient to us that have to do all of this but maybe it can help stop these animals from legally getting a firearm. I agree there will ALWAYS be illegal weapons available. But something tells me this twerp of a person wouldn’t be out seeking one illegally because that would entail actually interacting with another human being.
These poor people. The babies. The elderly who lived their whole lives to have them end this way. My heart hurts.

Re: 2 Mass Shootings within 24 Hours
Good thing the waste of space, useless POS POTUS tweeted "thoughts and prayers"..........that will surely fix the problem of WHITE AMERICANS opening fire almost DAILY and killing innocent men, women and CHILDREN.
This country is going to absolute hell.
Cars aren't safe enough so things like seat belts, airbags and antilock brakes become standard and required in cars.
People hijack planes and fly them into buildings and we increase security checks at airports.
People gun down crowds of people in everything from churches to stores to schools and we offer "thoughts and prayers" and do NOTHING else. Nothing. We don't even try. We just throw up our hands and cry about our 2nd amendment rights. It is DISGUSTING.
Enough already. It's really just enough. This can happen to ANY one of us, nobody is immune. WHY are we letting our ELECTED officials get away with sitting on their a$$ and ignoring the problem??!! WAKE UP AMERICA!

Re: 2 Mass Shootings within 24 Hours
Ban all lobbying from our government. Let's start there. The NRA has so much control over our politicians that research can't even be compiled and done to see what the correlation is, what can be done, etc. because heaven forbid it even remotely paints guns in a poor light. They have blocked research on shootings in America. This is the result of our politicians being bought. They are not working for the people. They are working for corporations.

2 Mass Shootings within 24 Hours
6 year olds got their brains blown out and we did nothing....so no, nothing will ever be done.
If that did not shake up people to act, nothing ever will.
A disgrace on all fronts.
This country is so worried about outsiders and attacks. The enemy is us within our own walls. Most of these shootings are angry white young men.
Please, build that wall....and put me on the other side of it because I hate seeing what goes on with this side.

I also agree with this. This country didn't bat an eye when all those babies died, so nothing is going to happen anytime soon.
Plus, until NRA has no control over the government, things will NEVER change. They are the reason why all of this is happening.

We also have to start holding the clowns in office accountable - democrats and republicans.
Call your Senators and Mitch McConnell's office to get them back in session to vote on HR8 for background checks. We have to start somewhere and do something.

Re: 2 Mass Shootings within 24 Hours
People want change but when it comes to vote for the candidates that *truly* DGAF about the NRA or lobbying they say the candidates are too “extreme” or “socialist”. Wanna vote for reelection in 2020 and his supporting candidates? Then please STFU about thoughts and prayers and wanting change. Not a party lines things here, Obama tried for tighter legislation and was unsuccessful. We need candidates across lines that have the balls to withstand NRA retaliation and the fall out that would ensue for even minor legislation. You can’t agree with every proposal of a single candidate but pick the causes most important to you in 2020 and don’t forget them when things get heated.

"In retrospect Sandy Hook marked the end of the US gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over."
We are severely broken as a people and as a society. Yesterday's shooting gets bumped out of rotation by today's. And we're ok with that. A 2 month old's bones were broken because his mother threw herself on his body to shield him from bullets and his father threw himself on his mother's body to shield her. And both his mother and father died. A 2 month old. And we're ok with that. We're ok with all of it. We drink it up and we come back for more. It's amazing the kind of hell we're willing to tolerate as long as it's happening to someone else.
This has nothing to do with mental illness and violent video games and everything to do with angry young white men on a methodical mission posting hate manifestos online. Sound familiar? We don't need to worry about radical islamic terrorists. We have our own sleeper cells of home grown domestic terrorists among us that go by the names Scott and Chad that will burn this country down to the ground from within. And we have useless worthless POS elected officials that will stand back and let them. There are now picture books to talk to kids about mass shootings. We don't need their thoughts and prayers. We need them to quit taking blood money and get off their asses and have some moral decency. And the people of this country need to quit binging the Kardashians and wake the fck up and take their country back before they're the next one huddled behind the canned goods in the supermarket.

You know it's bad when Venezuela issues a travel warning against you. Honestly all countries should. Tourism is down. Who wants to come here to die a fiery death?

I agree. I really think that the gun lobby controls how congressmen vote regardless of what constituents beg of them. The terror is in house. Time to stop worrying about baseless claims of outsiders and start looking within.

2 Mass Shootings within 24 Hours
Another sad day in America. And we are all responsible.
We the people are responsible. We are talking and saying there needs to be change. But what are we doing? Talk is cheap. We are responsible because we are not voting. We are not protesting. We are not boycotting. We are not mailing letters. We are sitting and waiting for others to make changes.
Gun owners…you are responsible. You are so scared that someone is going to take your guns away. Guess what? Nobody wants to take your damn guns away. We don’t think guns are the whole issue. But gun LAWS are. We want reform! We don’t believe that military grade weapons belong in the hands of civilians. We don’t believe that people with mental illness should be allowed to buy said weapons. We don’t believe that guns that can fire multiple rounds in seconds belong in the hands of just anyone. If you STILL have a problem with that, then you are thicker than mud! And selfish. Is your right to bear arms more important than someone’s child’s life? Is your gun worth more than someone’s child? Let me put it this way. Will your world crumble if you lost your gun? Would you fall into a deep depression if you lost your gun? Would life as you know it cease to exist if you lost your gun? Would your gun safe become a shrine to the gun you so violently lost? Will you lose all your will to live another day if your gun was ripped from your hands? If so, you have my thoughts and prayers. Listen, I get the value of guns. I do. But appropriate guns. Want a handgun for protection? That makes sense. A rifle for hunting? Makes sense. But damn it, our forefathers hunted with muskets and gun powder. Is Bambi packing that much heat that you need something bigger? If you are hunting bear or boar and you doubt your skills, then maybe you should stick to rabbits. But it’s time YOU start speaking up! If you disagree with the current laws, speak up! Too many parents will never, EVER get to kiss their kids good night again. But you go…go ahead…go tuck your guns in for the night and tell them to sleep tight. And then YOU rest easy knowing your precious guns are safe while those parents plan funerals.
Gun makers…oh boy…just because you CAN create a weapon that can annihilate dozens in minutes doesn’t mean you SHOULD, you greedy sons of b******. YOU have a responsibility. YOU! This is on YOU! Where is your obligation to better society? Where is your conscience? When will you draw the line and say, Hmmm, maybe we should just shelve this one? Whatever your answer, it’s too late. I hope their souls haunt you for the rest of your days. I hope your last moments on earth are not quiet and peaceful. I hope you are not surrounded by your loved ones. I hope you don’t hear birds chirping or the whisper of I love you from those who care most about you. No. You don’t deserve that. Those children deserved that. They didn’t deserve for their final minutes on Earth to be filled with fear and tears and gunshots and screams and death. This is on YOU!
Video Game designers…I’m putting this on you, too. When I was a kid, the only shooting game we had was Duck Hunt. I’m sure ducks everywhere ran for cover. But today…shooting games are so easily in the hands of elementary children. We went from shooting pixelated ducks to shooting realistic human beings. On our phones, our tablets, our TVs. Blood splatters on our screens. Dead bodies counted for points. You can’t believe that YOU have no role in this either.
Schools…this is on you! Start demanding more money for school psychologists, counselors, professionals who can help! Speak up. Stop allowing your concerns to be dismissed. Teachers see mental issues YOUNG. It doesn’t come out of nowhere. We see it young. And we take notes. We write down an anecdotal. We make copies of drawings. We make copies of words. We go to superiors whose hands are tied because there is no money for professionals to assess these children. And these kids leave. Then one day, you read about them in the news. And you say…yup, I called it. We need to stop just calling it and we need to be heard!
Parents…this is on you, too! Start raising your children with consequences! Start instilling kindness. Show them how to care. Show them how to take criticism. TALK to your children. Listen to them. Pay attention to them. Watch them. Watch what they are watching. Watch what they are playing. Watch what they are doing. Be IN their lives. Remind them how important it is to be GOOD. Teach them respect for life.
Finally, our government. YOU have failed US. AGAIN. We have been asking, no, BEGGING for change. Instead, you choose money. Again and again, you choose money. You choose money over the safety of your citizens. You choose money over logic. You choose money over morals. You choose money over obligation. You have an obligation to US, the people. You took an oath. To protect us. To lead us. To SERVE us. But you have failed us. Generations of politicians. You have failed us. This is not a liberal-conservative issue. This is not a party issue. This is a HUGE, GLARING, blemish on our nation. You have closed psychiatric facilities. You have taken money away from schools. You have allowed this to happen. Again and again.
You MUST have gone into politics for the right reasons. You wanted to serve the people. You wanted to make this country better. But somewhere along your career, you lost your way. And you lost something. You lost your hearts. You lost your reasoning. You lost your beacon. You lost your logic. And consequently, you lost our trust. You lost our faith. And now you have blood on your hands. You’re serving yourselves and you’re serving the gun companies and you’re serving the lobbyists and you’re serving the NRA and you’re doing US a disservice. You are doing our children a disservice. You are doing our nation a disservice. And now you have blood on your hands. Every senator, congressmen, governor, mayor, president…this is on YOU! This does not fall on our current administration. This falls on EVERY administration. This could have ended after Columbine. But it didn't. This could have ended after Sandy Hook. But it didn't. This could have ended after Vegas. But it didn't. This could have ended years ago! But every single one of you is keeping this cycle going because you are serving yourselves. And now, your hands are bloodied once again. You are the lawmakers. Yet YOU are creating laws allowing this to happen. You don’t allow an 18-year-old to buy beer but you sign laws so they can buy weapons. You make illogical, ridiculous, laws that serve nobody but yourselves! You make laws protecting unborn babies that can’t survive outside the womb but once they are here, good luck kids!
But you stop, and you send your thoughts and prayers. Continue to send those thoughts and prayers. Because apparently your thoughts and prayers just make it all okay. You do know that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting change, right? What change has come from your thoughts and prayers? Will we ever see change come from your thoughts and prayers? But you go…continue to send those thoughts and prayers. You certainly do a great job sending your thoughts and prayers.
And you didn’t get to where you are without knowing that our constitution is a living document, right? I’m sure you learned that somewhere. I mean, that’s your job! Then I’m sure you also know that it means it must evolve and adapt to the times. Well, if guns have evolved and changed, then shouldn’t the laws governing them evolve and change, too?
It’s Valentine’s Day…you get to go home tonight. You get to kiss your loved ones goodnight. You get to bring your wife flowers. You get to give your kids chocolate. But 17 sets of parents get to id their children. 17 sets of parents get to plan funerals. 17 sets of parents get to go on for the rest of their lives without their hearts. Because somewhere along the way, you lost yours.
Today is a sad day for our nation. Another sad day. And what’s even sadder is that nothing will change. Those with the power to do something will once again do nothing. And WE the people will continue to beg for change.
Finally, to our current administration…this hasn’t exactly been a scandal free term, has it? It was tarnished before it even began. But now you have the chance to go down as the administration that FINALLY fixes this. Think about that. You have the power to change something. You can actually SERVE us, the people. We want change. For crying out loud, be the administration that creates the change that ends this cycle of insanity. That ends this. And please…go find your hearts. Because ours are breaking.

Drives me insane when friends complain and do absolutely nothing about it. We cannot give up!
Groups like Moms Demand Action, Giffords Courage, and Everytown make it so easy to contact your reps through texting.
Also you can volunteer and donate to candidates who aren't owned by the NRA whether they're local or not. Get involved, it's actually been pretty cathartic for me.

I think the thing is that people feel like no matter what you do, it doesn't matter at the end of the day. You can text your reps until you are blue in the face, write them letters, call them, but what difference has that made? They don't care. I'm sure they get hundreds of these texts and emails a day. Do they even read them? Until the NRA has it's clout taken away, it's like farting into the wind.

It's better than screaming into the vacuum that is Twitter.
I was surprised that Peter King was graded as a D by the NRA. Lee Zeldin, however, has accepted donations from the NRA. News 12 Article He was graded an A by the NRA.
If you live in Zeldin's district I would start with him.

SO MUCH THIS!!!
Nothing changes because everyone has their price. If they are new and want serious reform, it's just because they haven't been bought by the NRA yet, they will be. The reason Zeldin has taken more money than King is because King is strongly pro 2nd amendment. The NRA doesn't have to buy him. He pretends he's for gun safety and regulation, but if you look at his voting and you can see what he's doing. Voting yes when he thinks the bills won't pass or if they have loopholes. He votes no on anything meaningful. Trump is talking about background checks. I wonder how that will turn out.
