Another sad day in America. And we are all responsible.
We the people are responsible. We are talking and saying there needs to be change. But what are we doing? Talk is cheap. We are responsible because we are not voting. We are not protesting. We are not boycotting. We are not mailing letters. We are sitting and waiting for others to make changes.
SO MUCH THIS!!!
Drives me insane when friends complain and do absolutely nothing about it. We cannot give up!
Groups like Moms Demand Action, Giffords Courage, and Everytown make it so easy to contact your reps through texting.
Also you can volunteer and donate to candidates who aren't owned by the NRA whether they're local or not. Get involved, it's actually been pretty cathartic for me.
I think the thing is that people feel like no matter what you do, it doesn't matter at the end of the day. You can text your reps until you are blue in the face, write them letters, call them, but what difference has that made? They don't care. I'm sure they get hundreds of these texts and emails a day. Do they even read them? Until the NRA has it's clout taken away, it's like farting into the wind.
It's better than screaming into the vacuum that is Twitter.
I was surprised that Peter King was graded as a D by the NRA. Lee Zeldin, however, has accepted donations from the NRA. News 12 Article He was graded an A by the NRA.
If you live in Zeldin's district I would start with him.
Nothing changes because everyone has their price. If they are new and want serious reform, it's just because they haven't been bought by the NRA yet, they will be. The reason Zeldin has taken more money than King is because King is strongly pro 2nd amendment. The NRA doesn't have to buy him. He pretends he's for gun safety and regulation, but if you look at his voting and you can see what he's doing. Voting yes when he thinks the bills won't pass or if they have loopholes. He votes no on anything meaningful. Trump is talking about background checks. I wonder how that will turn out.
Exactly. Do you think they care about letters and texts? It's all about the Benjamins
