2 month old only taking short naps

I am wondering if anyone else's LO's do this. Everyone seems to tell me that their LO naps for like 2-3 hrs at a time. My DD does not, she will nap on average for 20-30 mins. Sometimes she might get 45- an hour but that is rare. Anyone else LO do this at this young age? I feel like it makes her more fussy. Any advice on how to get her to nap longer? I usually have her nap in her swing or bouncy seat since I dont want her to get confused by putting her in her bassinet since we have a great night time routine. I have a nanny at the house now while I work from home and I want to make sure the baby is good for her.

My DS is the same way. I'm lucky if he takes an hr nap (he's 3 months old). but he takes a lot of small naps throughout the day. He naps best in the car, I can get a little over an hour then.

At that age ds was a cat napper. He would nap about 20-30 mins at a time.

Re: 2 month old only taking short naps

DS typically gave 20 minute naps, 2 times per day, til he was 10 months old. And I was working overnights at that time, so I was ready to bash my tired head against a wall.

My DS gave me 30 min naps max until 4 months of age. Then we got inconsistent 60-90 min naps as we started solids (coincidence or not). Now he's a great napper (I would say after 6/7 months it was consistent). It's very frustrating and did make him even more fussy and cranky than he already was!

ETA: Try a sound machine and swaddling. We used the Rock and PLay Sleeper, which was great (although none of these things made his naps longer at that time!)

My DD did the same thing at that age. She was a cat napper. She did change to longer naps when she got older.
