2 month Ped Appt tomorrow... what to expect with the shots?
I am spacing shots out-- and I *think* there would be 4 administered tomorrow?? But I will only give her two. I am looking in the vaccine book for the schedule.
Anything I need to know-- do they let you pick the brand of the vaccine, etc.?
I am soooo nervous for her to get shots.
What kind of reaction should I expect afterwards-- fever, etc.?

I can't help but just wanted to ask why do you space them out other than 4 being ALOT of shots for a two month old?
I would like to be able to do that too. Did you ask your ped before hand or are you just going to tell them tomorrow?
I am asking because I heard about splitting the mmr shot, but my Dr said they couldn't do that anymore. I am not sure which shots they get at 2 months.

Ethan's going tomorrow too. He's getting Hip-B & Polio. She only does 2 shots at a time. DPT is one of the scheduled shots, but she says she does that at 3 months.
Just make sure you ask if they are thimerosol free - that's the preservative that contains mercury, which was causing suspicion with autism.
GL..I'm nervous too. I hope he doesn't get a fever b/c the poor baby already has been having a bad week with reflux and a bad diaper rash

Samantha tolerated the shots well. It hurt mommy more than her.. seeing her little tears roll down her face just broke my heart. But the second it was over she was fine.
I have her baby tylenol every 4 hours or so the rest of that day to ward off fever (at the recommendation of the ped). She was sleepy for most of the day/night, but that could have been from the tylenol.

I think it's just too much at once for their little bodies.
I just spoke with DH's aunt, who is a pediatric neurologist and she said that spacing them really doesn't do anything.... but, to do what I feel comfortable with. I will talk to my ped more about it tomorrow.
Also, she said she is not really a fan of unnecessary vaccines, but all the ones listed on the AAP for 2 months-- Dtap, Polio, Rotovirus and HIB are all serious diseases and are very necessary.
This whole vaccine thing confuses the shite out of me.

Re: 2 month Ped Appt tomorrow... what to expect with the shots?
The only reaction that DD had after her 2 month shots was she slept for most of the day which gave me a much needed break at the time. All babies are different tho, i wouldnt worry too much, its gonna be harder on you then her

Re: 2 month Ped Appt tomorrow... what to expect with the shots?
I have pediatricians in my family (mom included) and they all say its best to do the recommended shots (not splitting, that lessens the immunity)
I'm not really worried about it...I didn't have my baby yet but she/he will get the shots and I'll feel good they're immune from lots of deadly diseases

Re: 2 month Ped Appt tomorrow... what to expect with the shots?
DS had pentacel which is dtap, polio and Hib. THen the Prevnar for Pneumococcal . and the oral for rotavirus.
make sure you give DC tylenol right before the nurse takes his temp. I didn't for his 2 month shot and he freaked! his thighs were sore and when I was trying to hold him to calm him down he was getting worse and worse. for his 4 month I gave him the tylenol every 4 hours through the following morning and he did so much better

Re: 2 month Ped Appt tomorrow... what to expect with the shots?
Allison cried less getting her 4 vaccines than her HepB shot at 1 month . I gave her tylenol and it helped some. She was super cranky at nightime though =( nurse sasha right after she gets the shots, that should help her get over the momentary pinch... good luck! If possible, have someone else (DH) be there to watch her/hold her. I had my mom hold her and I didn't watch cause it wouldve made me

Re: 2 month Ped Appt tomorrow... what to expect with the shots?
My DD got dtap, polio, hib( all in one), prevnar for pneumo, oral rotavirus vaccine and also a hep B because they didn't give her the first one in the hospital . She cried for about a minute afterwards and was completely fine afterwards. She slept more that day, but she had no adverse reactions. Good luck to your DC!

Re: 2 month Ped Appt tomorrow... what to expect with the shots?
Emerson got whatever shots were recommended for her 2 month visit, I didn't delay anything, and she had NO reaction. She yelped for a second when they stuck her with the needle but she was fine after and had no reactions.
EDIT - It was not 4 shots. The shots are combo shots............she had one shot in each thigh for a total of 2.
