2 year old Nursery Program
Does anyone have their child in a two-year old program? If so, what made you decide to do so? Are you happy with the program? Where do you go? Sorry, for all the questions. I am not sure if I am going to put my Ds in a 2 year old program and I was hoping for some feedback. TIA!

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
I put DD in a 2s program in September. She turned 2 in July and I just had DS so I felt like she needed something to do a couple days a week. It is 2 days a week for 2.5 hours. I really dont think she NEEDS to be in the program but she likes it and I like the time I get alone with DS either to have one on one time with him or run errands with just him. Its really like a 2.5 hour playdate for her...they have snack, play on the playground, learn songs and do some art projects. exactly what I expected at this age. and even though I didnt really expect any learning per say, I do find that she has been alot more verbal since being there (although she always was a big and early talker) and she really loves it. My DD is very social and took to it right away. Some kids dont though and thats ok...2 is young and a 3s program is better for some kids.

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
My DD is going to be in a program starting in Sept, but it's because I'm going back to work. The program looks like a combo nursery school/daycare, which I really liked. If I wasn't working, I'd still try to send her a few days a week so she can socialize and get used to a school environment.

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
I put DD#1 in a 2 year program b.c we had a new baby at home and it was harder to do classes b.c I had no one to help me with the baby so a 2 hr 2 day a week program was perfect for her.
DD#2 is now in a 2 year program and loves it. She was very attached to me so I thought it would be good to get her out a bit without me but by the time she started she was so excited she never missed me. She LOVES it. Comes home every day with tons of art work, tells me about all the kids she plays with and the toys and songs they sing and stories they read. I'm so glad I put her in.
As far as if or when - I think that is really dependent on the child. The school DD goes to has a gradual separation where the parents move out when the child is ready so some parents go for 2 or 3 classes and others for a couple weeks. I think some 2 year olds are ready and would love it - others might not be ready.

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
I had DD#1 in a 2yo program last year. She LOVED it. It was only 1 day a week for 2 hours. My ILs watch DDs while DH and I work so we thought it was a good chance for her to socialize with other kids. They didn't really do "learning" but it they did work a little bit on colors, letters, taking turns, sharing, playing.
She went to Pixie in Wantagh.

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
I'm not there yet, but I do plan on doing a 2 year old program next year. I'm home with DD, but I think she'd like the social aspect of it. She loves playing with the other kids in our mommy and me class. I work on freelance projects from home and while I can pretty much make my own hours, when I'm on deadline, there are days that we're home all day. I think it would be great for her to get out a little more (especially when she's a high energy toddler). And it will give me the chance to get some things done.

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
I currently have my DD in a 2 year old program that is 3 days per week for 3 hours per day. She had a hard time adjusting the first two weeks but now she loves it and asks if she can go to school. We enrolled her for a few reasons...the first was childcare and to give my parents, who watch her while I work, a break. Also, because she is with adults all day long, I wanted her to be around children her age which has been really good for her. She is learning a lot and it has helped her socially as well. I'm really happy that we did put her in this program and the change in her over the last two months has been significant.

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
DD turns 2 in December and she started a 2 yr program in September and absolutely loves it. It's 2 days a week for 2.5 hours. I work part time so she goes on the days my mom watches her just to give my mom a break! I so happy I did it. DD is enrolled in the JCC in Oceanside.u friend told me about the program.

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
Just wanted to share my experience with this. We signed DS up for a 2 year old program in January (he was going to be 3 that march).. We thought he would love it because he is very social, etc. We had moved in August and had a new baby in September. I figured by January he had adjusted to all teh new things and it woudl be fine.
Whatever it was - the school, all the other new things, him apparently maybe not being ready - it didn't go well at all. So we took him out.
We waited till this september - he was 3 1/2. We signed him up at a new school 2 mornings a week. He LOVES it.
SO, just want you to know that hopefully it will go very well...but if it doesn't just give your DC a little extra time and eventually it will!

Re: 2 year old Nursery Program
Sasha is in a 2's program now. Started off 3 days/week and I added a 4th day. She's an early Feb baby and was definitely ready for school, the stimulation and structure. She loves it-- and with a new baby coming, I'm happy she'll be there 4 days a week! Class is 2 hours and 15 mins.
