2.5 yr. old with sleep issues HELP before I lose my mind
My son has always been a decent sleeper-was sleeping through the night at around 2 months. He is now 2.5 and he has been waking more at night-the past three nights he woke up at 3:30-seemingly for the day.
We were never ones to take him into bed with us, but the first two nights we did take him in-which was I think the 3rd and 4th time he ever slept in our bed for any amount of time. So last night we decided we had had enough and he was not coming in-we discussed it with him, we even bribed him with ice cream for breakfast -not my finest hour I know! Needless to say, 3:30 rolls around and he wakes up-he doesn't really cry, he just calls nonstop for us. He called out for us for TWO hours. I thought I was going to lose my mind.
I have no idea how I am going to go teach my Kindergarten class today, I am stressed, tired and utterly annoyed by the whole situation!! Does anyone have any advice? Please save me from losing my mind!!!

Re: 2.5 yr. old with sleep issues HELP before I lose my mind
I think it is a stage, DD was like this for a while and is now sleeping through the night again. One thing we did was reassure her both before bed and when she woke up that she was safe and secure in her room alone, would see mommy in the morning ect. We taught her how to do stretches and take deep relaxing breaths. Every night before bed we talk about what her favorite part of the day and tell her a story that includes something she will be doing the next day. "Their once was a beautiful and smart little girl named Kayla who didn't want to fall asleep. But if she didn't go to sleep she would not have the energy to play with her friends in the morning. So she laid down in her bed, took a deep relaxing breath, closed her eyes and fell asleep. When she woke up, the sun was up and she got dressed for school and got to play lots of fun games with all her friends." Hope you get some sleep.

OMG the same thing is happening with my DD who is also 2.5. Last night she woke up calling for us at 3am and she was wide awake...we tried everything to get her to sleep and we finally brought her into our bed (which we have only done twice in her life) and she was so jittery, that I couldn't take it anymore.
We finally have her some milk to drink and put some toys in her crib and she finally went down around 4 or 4:15'ish.
This is not the first time this has happened and she has been a great sleeper since she born.
I'm glad we're not the only ones, but I hope this phase passes soon!!!

Ryan is doing this the last 2 wks too. Wakes up in the middle of the night asking for something - anything - a blanket, the sound machine. I can't believe he doesn't STTN anymore

I have to say I am glad we aren't the only ones dealing with this! I hope he sleeps better tonight-of course he took a great nap at daycare (even though he won't nap at home anymore! ) but I think I am going to try to keep him up just a little bit later than usual tonight and hope that that helps! Keep your fingers crossed! Thanks!
