They have several locations. Seems like a GREAT deal! Not sure how they are for lessons though. Has anyone ever enrolled there?

http://www.localfox.com is the site, under NYC

Deal is dead now

I just saw this and was about to post about it! (ETA: the classes, not the deal- can't find that in my area unfortunately)Chat Icon

Wondering if the Tots class is worth it for Riley. She is already crazy comfy in the water- I wonder if they really teach skills.

Anyone out there had their children take lessons there?

Re: $27.50 for 5 Swim Lessons @ NYSC

We did the one in Hicksville b/c I am a member there - It was OK. The girl who did the class that we took I didn't love but there was a girl who did a makeup class who was better. This was for a group parent and me class though.

ETS: For only 27.50 I would do it though...You can't beat that price :)

The tots class definitely doesn't really teach "skills". DS is 2 1/2 and he is able to swim under water, pick his head up, and go back and swim some more. They really didn't do anything for him except more practice with "reach and pull" and kicking.

Is there an age minimum? I didn't see it on the details. DS is 20 months.

Thanks so much...I'm thinking those kind of skills are taught one on one rather than in these group classes. Oh well, it's cheap and Riley LOVES the pool so she will be in heaven. Chat Icon

DS loves water, but this year is scared of the pool... Do you think I should do the class so he may warm up to the pool... or just skip it this year?

Just bought it. I called NYSC and made an appt for an evaluation for DS. He is meeting with a swim instructor who will test his skills to see which class he belongs in. Can't beat it for the price - thanks!

I just bought it as well! Wasn't sure what the next step was!

OK, so, I have to call NYSC and set up an eval?

When you called, did you mention this deal?

My DS is 4, so, I want him in the pre-k group (the one where it says timid of water and learning the basics).

Such a GREAT deal! Thank You for posting!

Has anyone that called been able to schedule a lesson for during the week, or it's just on the weekends? I hate to committ to a fri sat or sun because we usually have a lot going on

Re: $27.50 for 5 Swim Lessons @ NYSC

I think the deal is only for Fri or Sat or Sun (that's how I'm reading it).

I called the location where we plan to go and they were very nice about answering my questions. I didn't tell them I bought the deal, just that I was interested in that five week session but didn't know which class would be appropriate for him. We scheduled an eval and they said I could register him afterward (at which time I will present them with the coupon).

No you have to buy through the link above. It's like Groupon. I think today is the last day for it

Re: $27.50 for 5 Swim Lessons @ NYSC

Ladies who did this? Did you have to go in to register?

We just got back from a mini-trip & I called today (Hicksville) & she told me I had to come in w/ the voucher to sign up??

Does anyone know the schedule? Do they have certain days for "this deal?"

The link to the schedule was posted on the offer page. I think if you go to the NYSC website you will be able to find it. They only offer lessons on Friday Saturday and Sunday it said. If you are doing 2 lessons a week, then it was offered weekdays, but that wasn't part of this deal.

I didn't end up signing up since our weekends are pretty busy.

Re: $27.50 for 5 Swim Lessons @ NYSC

I think it depends upon which location. Where we went, it was supposed to be Fri/Sat/Sun but then they also scheduled classes on M/W/F and said I could use the voucher for one of those classes. They also told me if none of those classes worked then they could try to schedule a class for me at a time that works for me. VERY accommodating.

I still have to call (Deer Park location).
I know the class I want is on Friday late afternoon.
I hope it's available and not a problem! Chat Icon Chat Icon

i signed up for the hicksville one. no eval, but she did ask me to come in person to register. i went, and she was in a class already, so she just asked me to leave a the voucher and our names & ds's DOB.

they combined the 6mos to 4 years (which i was kinda bummed about), and the classes there are friday's at 11am and Sunday's, not sure what time.
