Was your baby bigger or smaller than predicted at 36-week growth sono?

I had my growth sono and it looks like she is going to be a big baby! I'm just curious as to how accurate they are. Thanks.

I had growth sono's every week till I had Jaidyn and her last one they estinated her to be over 8lbs. My delivery nurse said she thought I would have an 8+lber. She was 6lbs 8oz. They had Damien as 10lbs he was 8lbs. Those are far from an exact science.

they are really just estimates, they said that my son was going to be a big baby and he was 7lbs, 13 ounces.

I had 3 growth sonos. At the 36 week she was 7lbs 5 oz and at the last one at almost 40 weeks she was 8lbs 11oz. When she was born 5 days late she was 9 lbs 3oz, so unbelieveably they were pretty much on target.

Smaller. They said 9lbs 6 oz Chat Icon but she was 8lbs 14 oz and that was 9 days late.

at 36 weeks they esitimated around 6lbs 3oz and I delivered at 39 weeks and he was an even 8 lbs so it was close. The tech told me it is about 1% either way.

I didn't have any growth sonos. After feeling my belly one of the residents when I was induced predicted she'd be in the 8 lb range and she was 8 lbs 6 oz.

Joseph was estimated at 4.5lbs (at 34 week sono). He was born at 6lb 7oz at 34.5 weeks.

Maddie was estimated that she was going to be 8lbs (at 36 weeks sono), she was 7lbs 12 oz. at 39 weeks.

Re: Was your baby bigger or smaller than predicted at 36-week growth sono?

They told me I had godzilla baby in my belly. They told me they wanted to schedule a c/s because I couldnt possibly go to term and if I did, I would have a 10-12 lb baby!!

I was freaking out but didnt want a c/s...so I waited...and when she came out (even though it was via emergency c/s)...she was 6 lbs 15 oz!!! They were WAAAY off base with my DD.

Re: Was your baby bigger or smaller than predicted at 36-week growth sono?

1 lb bigger 3 weeks later, so it probably overestimated.

don't worry they can be +/- 1-2 lbs

They did a sono on me the day before he was born, and they were only off 2 oz. But - they were very careful with measuring because they were monitoring me for some concerns.

I think at our last sono 3 days before I gave birth they were each about a half of a pound more than they were actually born at.

Re: Was your baby bigger or smaller than predicted at 36-week growth sono?

We had a sono of DS the day DW's water broke (pure coincidence), and he was more than 2 lbs less than the sono estimate when he was born.

DD was also way off with the estimate, but not by as much. More like 1 to 1.5 lbs.
