2nd car - Toyota Prius
I posted on FHF so please don't move. Plus, Parenting girls always help me out.
Long story short... DH really wants us to get a 2nd car. We have my Infiniti and he has his work truck. He hates having to use the work truck for small errands and has to wait for me if he wants to do something with Mason. Obviously Mason can't go in the truck. I can't even drive it.
Anyway, the Prius is a great deal right now. Thinking of leasing it and using it as a 2nd car. Errands or even long trips b/c it's so fuel efficient
Thoughts on the car? Anyone have it? I know we can afford it, but I know I'm being a little selfish b/c we've been fine with the truck and my car. It's just not fair for DH I guess and then an extra bill...

Re: 2nd car - Toyota Prius
We have one, I LOVE the car, so great for gas, I can speed around in it, its so quiet, love the touch display, really good room in the backseat and trunk...DD is usually w/me in our SUV, but is very comfortable in the Prius as well
I have no regrets buying the car
HTH!
Its obviously not as big as an SUV or a truck, but its as roomy as many other sedans...and I LOVE how its so quiet!

Re: 2nd car - Toyota Prius
I don't have it but my mom has it and she watches the girls alot. My older DD loves riding in grandma's car(she's 9) and the baby's carseat has fit well in it.
Overall it's not as fuel efficient as they say. You do still get 40-50 mpg but not the 60 they promise.
It is a cute little car and does get you where you need to go. But i would warn you to have your DH try it out first, because going from a truck to a prius is a whole new world. Whenever, i drive it, it takes a little while to get used to the whole is the car started, since it is battery powered and you don't hear a sound most of the time, and being more confined than in my nice roomy truck.. just my opinion.

Thanks! He test drove it over the weekend and said the same thing. He said when you slow down it almost feels like you're going to stall b/c it's so quiet they did say 50 mpg and not 60 to him.

The engine shuts off and the battery recharges when it slows down or stops, so its super quiet, which is awesome! 60mpg is what is listed w/the manufacturer, but like EVERY other car, its always a bit less. The cool thing is that the screen in the Prius TELLS you how many MPG you're getting while driving.
