2nd internal - much different experience
I posted last week about my first internal at 38w. It was so painful, and lasted about 10 full seconds so I just gritted my teeth and bore it.
Well, I had my second one today at my 39w appointment and what a difference! I specifically chose a different doc in the practice because the last one was so bad. This one was over in like 2 seconds and didn't hurt at all. It wasn't even "uncomfortable" like other girls have described. It was nothing. So I guess it all depends on the doctor. He did mention that the baby is very low, so maybe that helped too.
In any case, I'm still 0 cm dilated at 39w1d. 
But he told me that they won't let me go more than 1 week past my due date. So that means 13 days more at the most!

Your last post scared me so much that I asked my doc about it at my appt. last night. lol. He told me he does a "gentle internal"; whatever that means :/
I am glad this one went better. Good luck to you. Hope you get to see your baby soon.

I'm sorry I scared you! I was just so surprised how much it hurt, after almost everyone else calls it "uncomfortable."
I definitely had a "gentle internal" today and it was NOTHING - I could go back and have one every day until I deliver and not complain.

I have had 3 so far and by 3 different doctors and all were different. The first and last one hurt a lot and the 2nd did not hurt at all. I think it def depends which doctor is doing it.

Funny thing is...I told my md to not be easy on me. He made me cry a lil....well worth it. I went into labor with my first dc next day, and with my son..I was induced, but showed up contracting!
This will be my last, bring on the pain! Lol.
