2nd time moms - questions

Did you bother doing a registry this time around?

Did you sign up for any of the classes at the hospital?

No registry for me- I don't even think either of our families know what a sprinkle is Chat Icon and all of my things are in really good shape ( my DS is 3)...

As for classes, the only one we did was the Sibling Class for my DS this time Chat Icon

Re: 2nd time moms - questions

I don't think I"ll do a registry because all of Alex's stuff is still good... but my memory is starting to falter about those early newborn days and how often you are supposed to feed them, how many dirty diapers to expect per day, etc... though maybe I should just pick up a book rather than subject myself to the torture of taking another class.

I do plan on taking Alex to a sibling class though... I think she'll need it!

Re: 2nd time moms - questions

We didnt register but my mom threw us a sprinkle. We found out that we were having a boy so we mostly got boy clothes at the sprinkle.
I didnt take any classes - I was having a scheduled c-section.

No my family doesn't like the idea of sprinkles or second showers and thinks they are greedy so I won't be having one. So for now I don't plan on registering - but then someone mentioned that if you do you get a discount on items left so maybe I might register for a couple of things DH and I plan to buy and hope that maybe we can use the discount to get something off - but I don't plan to tell anyone that I registered if we decide to. If you plan to have a sprinkle or shower I think a modest registry would be okay esp if you have a long time between siblings or are having a child of the opposite sex.

As far as classes - we didn't register for classes the first time - we used the laugh and learn video. I'm a repeat section this time so I don't really see the use - but I might look into a sibling class for DD but haven't decided on that yet.

No registry as mine were only 20 months apart & I didn't need anything. Once I had my second (different gender), I did get a ton of outfits.

I had an amazingly easy delivery the first time, so I didn't feel a class was necessary. Also there is the time factor...it was tough to squeeze in stuff when you have a toddler running around & only 1.5 hours before bedtime.

Yes, we did register. We decided to have a small luncheon rather than a formal sprinkle, but honestly I registered with Amazon for the completion discount and also they give you 6 mos free diapers if a certain $$ amount is purchased from your Reg.

No, we did not sign up for any classes. I was going to do the Lamaze, as we did not with DS knowing that he was going to be a c-section from 12w GA, but it looks like this baby will not be able to go VBAC either, so we decided to skip the class again.

Yes because in my circle of friends we do second showers or sprinkles.

We didn't do any classes but we did a tour because it was a different hospital.

We looked into this for G, and the nurse who coordinates the classes at Wintrhop (where I deliver) said it is not really great for kids under 2 as the "principles" are different.

Same here. I have all Bryan's stuff in very good condition.
If we have a girl, I'll have to buy clothes and that's all. Everything we have is gender neutral. We didn't find out the sex with DS and won't this time either.
We do need a new excersaucer too, but, I'll hold off on that for a bit.

Re: 2nd time moms - questions

I haven't bothered to register. It would be a really short registry. All we need is a second base for the carseat & clothes since we're having a boy this time. Everyone is excited to pick out baby boy clothes so there's no registry needed for that!

The only thing we're signed up for at the hospital is the sibling class for Kayleigh.

Re: 2nd time moms - questions

I plan to put together a registry because I do need a few things (carseat, new breast pump, bottles) and family has already begun asking what they can get to help out...

I plan to just send them to the registry instead of giving everyone a suggestion.

I did tell my DH that Id like a sprinkle, the kids are going to be almost 4 yrs apart, and my 1st shower was a disaster.
(I didnt have a wedding, bridal shower, bach. party- all I had was a baby shower and my MIL managed to complelty RUIN it) Whether or not DH does this for me, I have no idea.

If he does he will be instructed to NOT include a registry on an invitation.

The registry will be more of a wishlist for close family who'd like to help out, and if anyone else decides to look it up and purchase, well thats up to them..

Hope that made sense
