3 1/2 month old STILL not sleeping through night... Am I ALONE?

I don't know what I'm looking for here, maybe just someone to tell me that I'm not alone in this. But DS is 3 mos old and STILL has not slept through the night. This week it has gone back to being up every 3 hours.......... Is this normal for 3 month old sleep patterns? IF it is, then I'll deal with it. My first DS slept through the night MUCH sooner than this, so I'm kind of worried........... And selfishly EXHAUSTED. What do I do? Anything? He's swaddled, white noise machine, in the Rock n Play b/c he has reflux and will NOT sleep in his crib (another issue all together).

BTDT advice or anyone going through this now???

ETA: He was diagnosed yesterday with an ear infection and is on Amoxcicillan, but this has been an issue FOREVER, not just since the cold/ear infection. Has gotten MUCH worse with these factors, obviously.......

We hear of babies STTN early on, but I feel like those are few and far between.

DS didn't STTN until 11 months. DD is only 5 weeks so we will see what she does.

My 5 month old has recently been getting up once during the night.

He was like clockwork every 3 hrs for the first month or 2. THen he started stretching to 6 hrs and started STTN around 3.5 - 4 months. It's very sporadic. Some nights he STTN and others he gets up once and then right back to sleep.

Each child is different. There are some babies that don't STTN till 1 yr.

Could be a big growth spurt

I think its grand that all these mamas have kids who sleep at 8w or 2m through the night.

AJ wasn't one of them. She didn't REALLY STTN until she was nearly 1. I always tell myself "This won't last forever" and "it not like she'll be (_enter thing here_) while she's in college"

Ummm- my DD didn't STTN until 7 months or so
Trust me, you are NOT alone.

I am not sure how I functioned at work-I went back to work when she was only 8 weeks old.
It was horrendous and a time I never want to re- live

But as a consolation, she is now an incredible sleeper- you don't hear a peep from her for almost 12 hours- even when teething.

Normal. I know it doesnt feel that waay when you come on here and everyone is talking abou their kids STTN since 6 weeks....but that is NOT the norm.

My first DS was that kid. STTN early on I went back to work at 12 weeks and felt great! Everyone was like, man are you lucky! I thought it was normal though!

DS2...is nearly 8 months....he will go a few weeks STTN then wake for a few weeks. I can't figure it out! He first STTN at 10 weeks and I thought OMG great! Then it didnt happen again until 16 weeks...he did it for 4 nights I was then it stopped!

I have 2 now and I swear they are in cahoots with each other! When my 8 mo doesnt wake, my 4yo does (bad dreams, room is too dark etc) so i rarely get more than 4 hours of sleep at one time!

Just k now there are PLENTY of us sleepless mommies out there! you are not alone!

DS didnt start STTN until 12 months and now at 20 months he sleeps like champ! It was horrible being a FTWM and getting up every 5 hours! UGH! He never wanted to eat he just whined and whined.

DD didn't STTN until 5 months
DS didn't STTN until 8 months

Most kids don't STTN that early.

ETA:: for your sleep deprivation. I know it's not easy, but it is only temporary.

Thank you all so much! I already feel better! It's just so hard. I think I know, logically, it will get better... But it's just so hard to be so tired and try to function, as I'm very sure you all know! Thank you! Really, I think I can make it through the day now .

My DS still doesn't sleep through the night at 15 months. Im hoping one day it will click lol

DD#1 got up at least once a night until 8mos when we did CIO. Sometimes she'd get up at 3am and we were able to go back to sleep before I had to get up for work. Sometimes she'd wake up 4am or later and we'd be up for the day. DH and I were both exhausted.

DD#2 was wonderful and started STTN at 3 weeks (10pm-6am) We were in heaven until 6mos when she decided she was giong to wake up every 2-3hours every night. This lasted for 3mos and DH and I were zombies.

Hopefully DC starts giving you longer stretches soon

My first ds started giving full nights around 3.5 months and was consistently sttn by 5 months. My second ds didn't sttn until 9 months!

DC #1 slept through the night at 9 weeks.

DC #2 is 16 months, and does not STTN

My DS STTN by 3 months and just STOPPED at 2 years

But try the book "The Baby Sleep Solution" by Suzy Giordano, it's excellent.

DD had all the same issues that you are describing and we used the same things. She is 2 months now. We gave in and gave her a tsp of rice at night. Then I went to her 2 month appt and told the dr and he thought it was a great idea for keeping her full and keeping down the reflux situation. Guess what, she STTN.
I was hesitant bc of all the stuff they say about allergies. Not even an issue and I would never turn back now. She is doing great!

My daughter didn't sleep thru the night until she was 6 months old and that was after having her CIO. My son woke up at 5:30am for a bottle until he was 1.

Normal. Every baby is different from what I hear.I know people whose baby slept 12 hours right away!!!! and some take a lot longer.
I feel your pain. My dd is 3 months and doesnt STTN.

I'd love a 5-6 hour stretch!! I'm beyond exhausted!

I don't mean to sound like I'm bragging, but my almost 4 month old has been STTN for over a month (knock on wood!). It was a God send after dealing with him having colic for the first two months.

The best advice I read that I credit this to is early to bed, LATE to rise! It's unbelievably true! My DS gets cranky at around 6:15 and we need to start his bedtime routine STAT if we hadn't done so by then already. Same routine EVERY night. We don't do a bath every night, but we play/talk to him on the changing table, change him, put him in his comfy pj's, give him his bottle, swaddle him half way through (he hates this) and then give him the rest of his bottle. By the end of the bottle, he's usually almost asleep or sleeping. We have two noise machines and room darkening curtains. He sleeps in the Rock N Play - and I dread the night he moves into his flat crib.

He woke up one night last week at 3am and I went in, but refused to feed him. The last thing I wanted to do was start THAT habit again. My doc had told me last month that once he hits 4 months, he will no longer get a middle of the night bottle, which is why I didn't give him a bottle then.

I don't know if anything I said helps, but I wish you luck and I PRAY that I didn't just jinx myself! lol.
