3 Hours For A Baby Shower??

Ugh so I thought I finally settled on a place for my baby shower and I come to find out the price quoted is only for 3 hours.

Can you really accomplish everything in 3 hours? Has anyone gone to or thrown a 3 hour shower whether bridal or baby??

The other option I have won't allow me to bring in my own cake or a dessert/candy table. I know it's just a cake but I feel as though it's part of the whole deal.

Thought? Suggestions?

3 Hours For A Baby Shower??

I had my shower about 3 weeks ago at Passione in Carle Place. They also only give you the 3 hrs in the price. In all honesty, I think 4 hours would have been perfect, but we did accomplish everything in the 3. It just would have been nice to hang out and just socialize more. They wanted to charge an additional $15 a head or something like that for the added hour, so we just made due with the 3. Have 1 or 2 ppl help you open gifts to speed things up. I got through my whole pile in less than 30 minutes that way. It was like a race to the end.....so I could get back to socializing and eating! :)

3 Hours For A Baby Shower??

I think 3 hrs is fine.....any longer can be torture!!!!! You just need to open gifts as people are eating and skip on games or only do 1. IMO you do not need any longer.

I was planning on opening gifts but I chase heard where you ask guests to wrap in clear plastic so it takes less time?! Thoughts?

I kind of agree, by the 3 hr mark I'm ready to get the heck out of there. 4 hrs is WAY too long, I start to feel kidnapped. LOL As long as you're efficient about everything 3 hrs is fine, I think if it was longer you'd find people would start to trickle out before then anyway.

I agree too. Showers can get so long and boring.

Don't do clear wrap. I think that's so boring for the person being showered. Enjoying opening your gifts and once you're home, you can go through everything more closely. Chat Icon

how many people will be at the shower? i think if you have 30 ppl or less, 3 hrs is perfect. more people = more gifts = more interaction = more time needed.

Re: 3 Hours For A Baby Shower??

I think 3 hours is tight unless you have mother to be come at party start time. I did a surprise shower and mom to be came half hour into party and when 4 hours were over, she was still unwrapping gifts. Everything felt rushed. We had to do games quick. There were only about 25 guests too.

Eta: I think bridal showers could be shorter but baby showers could have tons more little gifts to unwrap.

Well the guest list is around 65 but if it proves anything like my bridal shower, than I'm thinking I will have about 45-50.

Too many for 3 hours?

I agree. I wouldn't do the clear wrap. I loved opening the wrapping paper and getting excited about what I opened. I feel like it would not be as exciting if I just picked up the gift and looked through the wrapping. If you're having at least 45 people, I would go for 4 hours.

are you set on the place? id rather have more time than not enough time. i dont like being rushed.

maybe we can help you find a place that offers more time for the same money you are already spending?

Another suggestion, don't waste time with games. Most people hate them anyway and don't pay attention. I didn't do games at my sister's baby shower and nobody even batted an eye, I think they were happy about being able to just relax and converse without having to focus on a bunch of silly games.

I so appreciate the offer but I have looked at almost every place on LI it feels and I either have too many people or not enought to meet the minimum. Plus I'm on a tight budget so I need to keep the price per head good preferably with some alcohol included.

I like both places a lot and the price is great. But now it's either choose the 3 hour party or the 4 hour party without a cake.

I'm thinking of cutting them out too. If anything it would just be one but none is looking pretty good at the moment as well. Thanks!

3 Hours For A Baby Shower??

My then future SIL bridal shower was scheduled from 11-3 and that was stated on the invite. I was home (an hour from the venue) well before 3 o'clock and I was 1 of the last people to leave. 3 hours is more than enough time for a shower.

This!
OMG.
I recently went to a bridal shower and they had all this BS for us to fill out on the table. And when we didn't do it the bridesmaids came around like teachers scolding us to do our homework.
I hid mine under the table so they thought I did it and when they came around to collect it I said- Oh i already handed mine in to another bridesmaid.

Please.

All i wanted to do was drink and eat.
Not write a novel full of marriage advice and memories of the bride (who i wasn't really close to anyway so i had no clue what to write!)

The 4 hour place won't allow any outside food...including a cake !!

Hahaha...love it. I agree. The less games or no games the better! It's definitely not an option for a 3 hour event

I would do 3 hours. So if party starts at 1 then

1245 arrive and greet guests
115/130 - food
200/215 start gifts
315 cake and coffee.

I agree. Please don't do any games. As a FTWM to 2 school aged kids, I do not get to socialize as much as I would like... we don't get to see family as often as we would like.

We just did a party. I was there on time, no games, everyone sat wherever they wanted to, mingled about... good food, opened presents and everyone just relaxed.
