3 month old feeding schedule
DS has been getting a little fussy after feedings so we decided to increase his bottle from 6 oz. to 8 oz. tell me if this sounds like he is eating too much:
5:30am BF
9:00am 8 oz. bottle
1:00pm 8 oz. bottle
5:00pm BF
7:30 pm 5-6 oz. bottle
by my estimate that is approximately 33-34 oz. a day. does that seem like a lot for a 3 month old?

The amount is not alot, and if he is taking it, he must need it. I would try to make one of those 8oz bottles at night though, so he will sleep a little more contently.

yes! it is.
the only reason i wasn't making his last bottle 8 oz. is because he BFs only 2.5 to 3 hours before so i didn't want to overfeed him.
maybe i can make his 1pm bottle 6 oz. that way he will BF earlier (like 4:30) and i can give him an 8 oz. bottle right before bed.
i am going to try this tonight, thanks!

no you are not! i know i don't have a normal kid, i am just lucky i don't know any other 3 month olds that sleep this much! you are a great mommy, don't EVER think anything differently!

usually 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. but sometimes he catnaps.

I think you are fine. My dr. said for the first three months not to worry about feeding too much, as they will let you know when they are hungry. Emma is taking 6 oz, but every 2-3 hours right now, and the dr said this is perfectly fine.

What a good sleeper!
I have a little chart from Similac that says 3-4 month olds take an average of 24-35 ounces per day. Your schedule sounds good

This is odd at Shane's checkup 2 weeks ago (he just turned 3 months this week) the ped asked how much he was eating, it was 35 oz/day. He said that's too much, it should be 32 max right now. So I go through about 4 5oz bottles during the day, plus the first and the last one have 6oz. for 32 total.
He seems happy and sleeps well, but I'm wondering why the ped said that if they should be feeding at will at this age....

all peds are different i never asked mine how much he should be eating so i don't know what they would have said!

That sounds fine. My 3 month old DS is eating between 35-40 oz per day. My ped said its fine and we will probably start cereal next month.

Sounds perfect.
If he's eating and sleeping well - that's all the matters.
I used to increase Nick's bottles by a 1/2 oz every few days, so if he didn't feel like finishing the larger amount I wasn't wasting formula.
Just an idea . . .

Kaylie is a little over 3mos now but she has been eating a smiliar amount since then
6am, 10am, 2pm, and 6pm are all 7.5 to 8oz bottles and then she sleeps from around 730pm-830pm to 6am-630am
my ped told me something similar to pp....not to worry wht u feed her bc if i was bf the whole time u have no idea what ur giving bc theres no way to measure....if he/she wants it takes it and doesnt throw it up, then its the right amount

looks like a great schedule to me. At 3 months Landon had 6 x 6 oz bottles, so 36 oz. per day.. give or take a few oz here and there.

Wow! I am so jealous at his sleeping patterns. Ethan is eating more than that and his sleep is so sporadic. Sometimes he sleeps, sometimes he doesnt.

Wow...8 oz bottles...my dc is almost 3 months and still just gets 4oz...LOL...she wakes about every 3-4 hours...last night she slept for 5 hours yeah...truth is all kids are different...my oldest came home from the hospital drinking 4 oz....her feeding schedule is sometimes the same...sometimes she does sleep through a bottle..and then wakes up wailing for bottle..if your dc is doing fine with the bottles...and his weight is good...then the amount your giving him his fine..

DD takes 6oz bottles every 2 hours on the dot...and sleeps from 830-900 to about 8 am everynight....
She is 3 months old...
Its about 33-35 oz per day...
