36 week Growth Sono yesterday.
So yesterday i went for my 36 week growth sono and is head down and face back which is good and he is estimated to weigh 6lbs 7ozs which I was told is average and at the 51% range. Does this mean that he is going to be over 8 lbs if he goes to 40 weeks? I have heard so many times that these estimates are always off.

Re: 36 week Growth Sono yesterday.
The way I understand it is that the baby grows approximately a 1/2 pound a week during the last few weeks of pregnancy. Which in your case could potentially lead to a baby over 8 pounds at 40 weeks. That being said, I also understand the growth sonos to be off +/- 1pound. HTH.

Yes and no-growth sonos can be off +/- a pound. So theoretically with a 1/2 ounce a week if they were spot on, it would be possible, but the growth sono could be wildly off!

Hey me too!!! 6lbs 7oz at my 36w (I'm 38w now).
My Dr. said the sono can be off by about 15% in either direction and also the baby will gain appx 1/2lb per week.
FYI at my 32w growth sono was 4lbs 11oz which was the 61st percentile- so now that we are in the 51st percentile 4 weeks later it just goes to show that the weight gain won't necessarily be steady, etc.

Yeah that too- I just saw on Disc Health a lady who was told her baby's est weight was 11 pounds and she got a c b/c of it but then the baby was barely 8...
I know they get the weight from an equation made up from the head circumference and 2 other measurements- I think the stomach is one of them?... I asked at the time but I forget now. Anyway, so I guess if ur baby has a large head or whatever it would throw off the number... and my DH has a big azz head.

Thanks, girls. I guess only time will tell. As long as DS is healthy is all that matter!

Re: 36 week Growth Sono yesterday.
Sonos can be off. I was told the day before I delivered DD via c-section that she was prob close to 9lbs. She was born at 7lbs10z so they were at least 1lb off.
But they can grow 1/2lb per week now so you could be looking at an 8lber which isn't really bad.
