My obgyn does not do growth sonograms. He will only schedule you for one if something does not look right.

Re: growth sono- what week does that happen
I had one b/c of all the issues I have had in the past...They like to keep an eye on babies develope incase I go into preterm labor.
Unless the doctor sees a reason to do it..(measuring small or big etc, past history) my doctor doesnt usually do them either.

same here!!
I don't think they are common at all. I think most women get their Level I and Level II and that is it - unless there are issues.

Re: growth sono- what week does that happen
Ok, now I'm starting to panic that maybe my doctor saw something because they scheduled a growth sono for me (I'll be almost 32 weeks) like it was normal to do. I go on Monday.

Re: growth sono- what week does that happen
I had one with my first and this baby at 31-32 weeks. Also, they thought I was measuring small with my first initially around 38 weeks and did another one.

Sorry, I hope my comment did not cause you to panic. Some OBGYNs do standard growth sonos. I have a BPP and a NST scheduled for tomnorrow because I have preeclampsia and noticed a slight decrease in my fetal activity. They did a NST yesterday and he moved but the dr just wanted to make sure everything is ok. I hope and that he is ok. I would not get scared until something comes back with news to warrant that. I hope everything is ok for you. Also, if there is a test your dr schedules you for, I would ask him/her why he is scheduling the test so you don't worry about it.

I have had 2 babies and never had any ultrasounds after the 20 week ultrasound. I had them through 2 different hospitals through 2 differnt practices.

Re: growth sono- what week does that happen
The only reason I got a sono a few weeks ago was because the baby stopped moving after I lifted too much stuff in the flood. They did it just to make sure. I'm not scheduled for any growth sonos.

Re: growth sono- what week does that happen
I had one at 32 weeks. One dr in the practice told me to schedule it. My regular dr then told me she doesn't feel it is necessary since nothing abnormal was going on. I wanted to see the baby so I kept my appt - glad I did my amniotic fluid measured lower than it should and now they are watching it.

My doctor did one at around 34 weeks, I think....standard practice for his office - I had a boringly normal pregnancy....

I only had one because I had GD. It is not standard practice for all doctors to send you for one.
