36 weeks today first internal
Dr said everything looks good. 1 cmm dilated and 70% effaced , did the groub b strep test. DID NOT HURT AT ALL

 You are getting so close!
I was just talking (whining) to my coworker about internals & the strep B test and how every day I get closer to them I want to cry and run away.

OMG- I have mine tomorrow.
So what does that mean? 1 cmm dilated and 70% effaced.
Did they tell you?

I went for my first internal on Monday at 36w and was the exact same thing - 70-80% effaced and 1cm dialated.
Hoping for some progress when I go again on Monday b/c I am done done done!

just means that things are moving along. you can be 1cmm dilated for months just means gears are in motion
and effaced means
Effacement is the process by which the cervix prepares for delivery. After the baby has engaged in the pelvis, it gradually drops closer to the cervix; the cervix gradually softens, shortens and becomes thinner. You may hear phrases like "ripens," or "cervical thinning" which refer to effacement.
How is effacement measured?
Effacement is measured in percentages. For example, your health care provider may tell you that you are effaced 50%, which means you are half way to being completely effaced. When you are 100% effaced or completely effaced, your cervix is paper-thin and labor is right around the corner.

Thanks Im clueless. I had my appt today at 36 weeks my cervix is closed. I am glad about this because i am moving next weekend and dont want her arriving early!
