3rd time getting bit at daycare
I got a call from the director just now and I just knew she got bit again. This is the 3rd time in 3 months... the first two were different kids, i'll find out later who it was this time from her (director can't tell me). I asked her if it was DD that is instigating and why it keeps happening to her and she said no, this time they were getting ready to do circle time and the teachers just saw her crying and holding her leg (1st time fighting over a toy, 2nd time both trying to wash their hands at the same time).
I'm so upset, I don't want her to think it's OK to bite. I always talk to her after it happens and she knows it's not okay (and never does it) but I feel like she's probably confused as to why kids keep doing it to HER.
Ugh
Good thing is she is moving up to the 2 1/2 year old room next week so hopefully that will be better, kids are a bit older.

Re: 3rd time getting bit at daycare
Ugh, it is never easy when it's your kid that gets bitten or if your kid does the biting
Unfortunately it is definitely par for the course and it is something that they all do at this age and all learn from each other.
DD was bitten by a little boy and two weeks later she ended up biting her "best friend" at school. I felt really terrible because I know that DD is such a good kid but she learned this behavior from another classmate. I felt terrible because I had just emailed the daycare director about DD being bitten and then she was emailing me to tell me that DD was now the one biting.
We did a lot of reinforcing that you bite your food and not your friends and luckily we haven't had any incidents in a few months but I definitely feel your pain.

This is why I am so hesitant to put DD in daycare but I know the day will come when she will have to interact with other children who will then do these things.. Sorry about your DD.

Re: 3rd time getting bit at daycare
Ugh I know that feeling all too well The good news is that kids grow out of this phase pretty quickly and the "victims" forget about theirs injuries even though they do become more aware of their surroundings and are more cautious. My son was bit a few times and one of the little girls that used to bite and pinch him now proclaims her love for him and wants to marry him He wants no part of her
It is a heartbreaking situation though when our children are hurt by others

Re: 3rd time getting bit at daycare
There's not too many things that happen at daycare that are worse than a little one getting hurt, especially when they don't instigate it. My 4 year old had an issue with being repeatedly scratched (long, deep, bleeding scratches) from another child in his class earlier this year. My DS was not the only one getting hurt as it was happening to other kids as well. I'm happy to say the daycare took it very seriously and took steps to put a stop to it. I hope it stops when she moves up to her new class.

Re: 3rd time getting bit at daycare
Thanks, I guess I just don't want her to start biting. She's not a biter and I always tell her it's not okay but I then hate that others are doing it. What must she be thinking? And she remembers everything at this age, she will talk about it for weeks, "jane bit me here... we put ice... i cried... it's all gone now". HEARTBREAKING.

Re: 3rd time getting bit at daycare
speaking from experience..john got bit 11 times it think..yeap..
the hand washing time: SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED!!! Never let them both at the sink at the same time. Close quarters..not good!!
Circle time: ANY TRANSITIONAL TIME THERE SHOULD BE ALL EYES ON THE KIDS..THAT'S WHEN THEY ARE MOST LIKELY TO ACT UP AND GET IN EACHOTHERS SPACE.
YOur daycare should know these sensitives times and have staffing accordingly!!
ETA: john NEVER bit anyone back!!
