4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
DS is 4. He's been day time potty trained for close to 2 years. He was still sleeping in pull ups till about 4 days ago. He's peed the bed every night except 1. I'm lost. Do I put pull ups back on him? He wakes up right after he pees. I'm done changing/washing sheets!! Help! He wasn't waking up dry when he had the pull ups on. I just thought it was time.

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
Id let him wear pull-ups. From what have read, you can't night-train, it's physiological. Some kids, and boys in particular, can wet the bed til 7 years old, and it's actually quite normal!

Thanks! That makes me feel better. My thought was to put him back in pull ups.

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
We are in the same situation. DS has been potty trained for years. He has just started having a dry diaper 50% of the time... Talking about it with neighbors, we have some kids who are 6 & older still in pull ups at night.

4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
my son is 5 ( just turned 5 in november) and still wears pull ups to bed. he wakes up dry maybe 70% of the time, but i still put him in them. he's sleeping well, i'm sleeping well--- thats all i care about! HAHAHA i've heard its a physical thing anyway, that can take awhile for their bodies to be able to hold it that long.... i wouldn't worry

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
I agree. Put him back in the pull-ups. If he's trained during the day, then I'd wait to see when he starts waking up dry in the morning and try again. Otherwise, if you want to keep him in underwear at night, you'll have to start waking him at night and taking him to the bathroom. Not ideal!

4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
DS is 4 and still in pull ups at night. as long as you are working towards keeping him dry with good habits (potty right before bed, maybe cut off drinking a lot before bed, potty after waking up), I don't see any harm in it. my friend was waking her daughter up to use the potty around 10-11 pm and then she was able to stay dry until morning. I didn't personally try this method, but maybe something you could try if you want to get rid of pull ups.

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
Dd is 4-1/2 and still wearing pull ups at night too. Day time Potty trained for almost 2 years also. She never wakes up dry although I am not certain if she goes at night or the minute she wakes up. I don't really care at this point. Although I wouldn't mind saving the money I spend on those pull ups!

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
My son wore pull ups until 4.5. we gave him a few days notice that he wasnt going to use them anymore, reduced drinks before bed and put 2 layers of sheets and protectors on his bed. He did great

My son is 2.5 I never gave him the pull up at bed option . He's gets water until 730 and goes to bed. Just don let give him the option of the pull-up I feel they confuse them .

4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
My son turned 5 in october. He's been trained since he was 2.5. 80% of the time he wakes up wet. Limiting drinks, making him go to the bathroom repeatedly before bed, etc doesn't work for him. His dr isn't concerned, so neither am I really.
My dd is almost 3, has been trained for 3-4 months and is dry in the morning 90% of the time. Go figure. I still put something on her thougj, just incase. If it's dry, we reuse it for a few nights.

4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
My dd is 3 but potty trained since 2 and she wakes up every am with her pull up soaked! My family is harassing me to train her and I am like how? She wakes me up in the night 1-2x sometimes just calling out to tell me she loves me lol so I am not looking to set an alarm, wake her and out her on the potty. I work full time. This thread makes me feel better.

4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
My DS turned 5 two weeks ago. I recently put him back in pull ups for bed because he walkes up wet most of the time and I'm really tired of washing sheets every single day. He's been fully trained during the day since this past summer and it's not affecting that so I'm not concerned. It can take a long time for them to night train. My nephew is 7 and still has night time accidents.

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
As a grandparent, the advice I gave my daughter was to stop stressing over it. I have not, in all of my years, ever heard of a person who did not successfully complete the potty training process. Put your child in a pull up at night, and stop worrying about it. He will eventually come to a time when he no longer needs the pull up. Enjoy your 4 year old. I think it is the best age ever!

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
I actually would stick to underwear at night. My sons are 3 and 4 and were both out of diapers at 3. They both stopped wetting the bed at night after 2-3 accidents so they don't wear pull ups. I put them back in underwear after they woke up wet. Of course if they did this for 2 weeks straight I would prob use a pull up, but I think you should try not to!

4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
My twin DDs are 3 and still wear them. One DD wakes up dry 90% of the time, too. She even gets up to pee during the night on occasion. The other DD sleeps like a rock... Until she pees her pull up then screams "I peed in my underwear!" she still wakes up wet every morning wet, anyway is there a solution to stop bed wetting?

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
I don't think you can really night train kids. It's all about when they're physiologically ready. There's a wide age range for this. Both of mine were night trained shortly after being day trained, but I have friends whose children weren't night trained until 5.
ETA: As someone who is woken up every night by my 3 year old who needs to use the bathroom, enjoy the uninterrupted sleep.

I disagree. Every kid is different and waking up to pee isn't learned. I have one who is six and just started getting out of bed to pee after years of trying different remedies. My other is four and never wore a pull up a day in his life. From the day he trained he was dry all night.

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
My son is 5 & still has accidents at night. I use the good night mats on his bed to avoid the constant washing of sheets. I can't put pull ups on him bc he gets a rash. I've spoken to ped & they said you can't night train

Re: 4 y/o still wears pull ups to bed
I took my dd to the urologist last year when she was 4. She was having night time wetting. His advice to me was to cut the pull ups out. He said instead wake her up between 10-11 and walk her to the bathroom. Wait until she goes to the bathroom and return her to bed. I have been doing this for a little over 6 months. She has had 2 accidents. I was really skeptical and sort of annoyed when he told me to do this but its works.

This! My 4 yr old DS trained fairly easy at 27 months. He has not had a conscious accident since....but he wets the bed almost ever single night. He hates wearing Pull-ups at night and begs us not to put them on him because "diapers are for babies" but he just doesn't wake to pee. Our ped said there is nothing you can do, Its a hormone they develop usually by the time they are 5. I just try to tell him its not his fault and it doesn't make him any less of a big boy.
