Things just got worse for us
Thank you all for the outcries & the wonderful messages. I was too upset & numb to update last night but figured I better let you know know what is going on.
Unfortunately our day didn't start out too good as we got into a 3 car pileup on our way to the appt. Fortunately DH & I are fine but his car is totalled. We should have known this was a bad sign.
The MRI was not too bad, only 10 minutes worth of pictures but just those 10 minutes delivered us with the worst news we could possibily ever think of. Apparantly our son has complete agenesis of the corpus collosum. This means he is completely missing the part of the brain that connects the two ventricles. There is no surgery or anything that can be done. 
They are unable to tell us the cause of it & how severe it will be on our baby. It could be as mild as motor & learning disabilities but it can be as severe as seizures & mental retardation. I am so numb at this point & really do not know what to think or even cope. I am getting immediately on the phone with my OB's office this morning to find out how the heck this was missed in all my sonograms & even my bloodwork. Apparantly this is something that should have been seen around 12w-16w of pregnancy. There are many causes & most of them were ruled out when I had my bloodwork done at the ultrascreen. So we are just so baffled.
My mom is flying into town this afternoon to be with us bc I can't handle it. I came to work today to get my mind off of it but I am just sobbing, so I am going to leave as soon as my boss gets in. These next 4 weeks are going to be so difficult on us especially not knowing.
So if anyone has any spare prayers, we would appreciate them  If anything, I feel the most terrible for my husband as he is beating himself up over this. He feels he did something wrong & that I don't deserve this.

I am so sorry that you and your family are being faced with this. I know it's not what you dreamed or envisioned for your dear child or for your world. And it may not come to this because there are people out there who are only mildly affected by a missing callosum, but I'd like to delicately offer a piece of hope for whatever your outcome may be....I work with special needs children and adults and want to share something with you that I know to be true. I've spoken to many, many moms over the years and learned that yes, the families experience a tougher side of life, their dreams had to be radically modified and they have to grow into a much stronger version of themselves...but they also experience much greater joys and blessings than the rest of the world. Each child, regardless of disability or diagnosis is guaranteed to instill in you a sense of pride and deliver the sweetest smiles you can ever imagine. I know its' early in your process, but please know...through your tears.... that there is hope and there is happiness and light. It's not what you expected and that kills to the core....but there is a beautiful baby coming who will give you a lifetime of joy in a way you never dreamed of knowing. You will get through this and you will grow stronger as a result. Try not to lose sight of that.
