5 week old...BF and FF questions?? 2 hrs at night and uncomfortable still

DD is 5 weeks old and has been a tougher baby for me. i am breastfeeding but supplement with formula when she is super hungry. sometimes she is still hungry after she has emptied both sides. she gets anywhere from 3 to 6 ounces of formula a day.

she was originally on similac and she was grunting all night (not during the day) so i switched her to regular Goodstart which i used with DD#1 and since then she still grunts and is only going 2 hours between feedings. before the switch she was doing sometimes 3 or 4 hours at night.

last night she was up from 830 until 1am screaming bloody murder and eating but screaming while eating. she had formula and breastmilk. she was not crying but seemed to be in pain. she did not seem gassy. had a ton of burps and old spit up.

should i switch her to nutramigen (sp?) or alimentum???? i would think her issues are formula related. would it be okay to do another formula switch???

i dont have too much to offer but DS is also 5 weeks and on goodstart gentle.

have you tried mylicon to see if it makes a difference? DS was the same way around 2-3 weeks and I wasnt sure if it was gas but it was. he was very uncomfortable. now we put mylicon in every bottle and he is a totally different baby (most of the time )



maybe if it is a gas problem and you can solve that, the eating pattern will straighten out b/c she will be more comfortable?

I would try Gentlease before you go to Nutramigen. DD was the same way until one day I found blood in her stool. Then we switched to Nutramigen.

try Gentlease its very sweet and easy on the tummy
