Flying with my 3.5month old in 6 hrs- I have questions

Hey everyone! Today I will be taking my lil Frankie ti Fl to celebrate my Grandmothers 93rd birthday!Chat Icon And I have a few questions...

* I didnt buy him a seat but in the event the planes not full and I can bring his car seat on, do I need the base as well for the plane?

* How much breastmilk am I allowed to bring on the plane?

* Do I need his birth certificate?

*he's on antibiotics...will they give me hard time bringing that liquid on?

Any other advice is greatly appreciated!

You shouldn't need the base. The base is really for convenience of taking it in and out of the same vehicle.

Definitely bring a copy of the birth cert. You may not need it, but if you have it and don't need it, it doesn't take any space or weight. If you do need it and don't have it, it makes things more difficult.

* How much breastmilk am I allowed to bring on the plane? as much as you need during the flight and during the wait time in the airpor

* Do I need his birth certificate? No, but it won't hurt to bring it just in case

*he's on antibiotics...will they give me hard time bringing that liquid on? they shouldn't.... just explain to them what it is when you are going through security

Any other advice is greatly appreciated!

I've found that security is pretty understanding with formula and breastmilk - make sure the meds are in a ziplock bag.

Def bring the birth certificate.

Don't need the base on the plane, but will you need it for when you are in florida?

Plan to nurse or give a bottle during take off and landing. or give dc a pacifier - helps with the ear popping....

NO, you can strap the seat in with the seat belt. It goes over the top in the grooves on the car seat.

* How much breastmilk am I allowed to bring on the plane?

I believe you can bring as much as you want of formula or BM. I bring full sippy cups of milk & juice, they just test it.

* Do I need his birth certificate?

YES

*he's on antibiotics...will they give me hard time bringing that liquid on?

Not Likely, As long as his name is on it. I bring Tylenol, Motrin, Teething drops etc. and have no problems.

Bring had sanitizer and sanitizing wipes. I wipe down the seats, seat belts, trays, arm rests, window etc with sani wipes.

Feed him during take off and landing even just a few sips, it helps the ear pressure. If its open seating (not assigned) have your dh sit in the window place baby in middle & you sit in the aisle. No one wants a middle seat next to a baby.

We fly Southwest every other month if you have any questions.

How fun!!! Happy Birthday to your GrandmaChat Icon

-We flew with DS when he was 3 months, we gate checked the infant seat and the stroller since there was no seat for him.

-I'm not sure about BM, but they never gave us a problem with formula

-I'd bring a copy of the BC just to have. We brought a copy and DS' passport last time we traveled

-They shouldn't give you a problem with the antibiotics.

My biggest suggestion at that age is use a Bjorn or a sling in the airport (even with the stroller b/c you can load that up with your diaper bag/carryon)

I completely and totally forgot about the sling thing..... OMG how I loved having the sling with me when I flew with Kristina when she was 3 months old..... It made life soooooooooooo much easier.... I was able to put my head back and not have to worry about her as much.... she passed out in the sling, and this mommy was able to catch a couple of Zzzzzz's....
