6 months and not sleeping

Ok so she was a great sleeper up until like 3 weeks ago, she goes in at like 8ish and then gets up at 11 happy, and ready to play, i put her binky back in her mouth and leave the room, and it never works, last night was horrible up from 11-3 ready to play and was happy as can be.... Dh thinks it is her teeth but she would be screaming and she is not, i was not a sleeper as a child so i hope she is not getting it from me, this 3-4 hours of sleep a night is finally getting to me....

anyone have any ideas???

Re: 6 months and not sleeping

I was going to say teething too. Tyler is going through this. Up and down off and on but not wide awake the whole time like Madison. Hmmm....I'm surprised she doesnt get tired and just pass out. Does she cry for you and DH or just sit in her crib and babble? I might start letting her CIO but only for a few minutes at a time.

Re: 6 months and not sleeping

yes i tried letting her cry last night and then she got really worked up, so we put her in bed with us where she is rolling into each one of us, pulling hair hitting you in the face like hello wake up and play with me, until finally at 2 this morning i gave her a bottle of warm formula, and about 1.2 hour later she passed out, i know she is not starving bc she eats like a champ at every meal..........Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: 6 months and not sleeping

I'm sorry!! DS is 6 months and he wakes OFTEN, so I totally sympathize with you!! Chat Icon

He doesn't wake up happy though... not hysterical either (thank God), just AWAKE!!! Chat Icon He seems tired and will fall asleep in my arms in minutes but cries when put back in crib. He's actually been better past couple of nights, but I don't want to get my hopes up!

Anyway, sorry I'm no help... just wanted to offer support from one sleep deprived mom to another!

see that is the thing, she is soooo busy during the day, with us then my parents and the babysitter 2 days a week we keep her going, so i would think she would be exhausted and sleepChat Icon Chat Icon

No advise. But my DS is also 6 months and doing the same thing. Chat Icon

I'm sure it's a developmental phase, but it's so frustrating. He had me up from 4am to 5am last night. Chat Icon

I feel for you! I have another non-sleeper here as well! She wakes up crying 3-4 times a night and won't sleep in her cribChat Icon

Re: 6 months and not sleeping

I totally sympathize with you. DD is almost 8 months and wakes up frequently. Sometimes she goes back easily...sometimes I am up for over an hour with her.
My DD also gets nuts with the face slapping and hair pulling when I put her in bed with me.

Hope it gets better!Chat Icon

Re: 6 months and not sleeping

Sometimes, when Cailen wakes up 2AM to play, the only way to communicate to him that its not play time is to put him back in his crib and shut the door.... After his needs are met - he will cry a bit, but now he goes right back down when he sees his plan was foiled!Chat Icon

Re: 6 months and not sleeping

I also think 6 months is an age where they start testing the waters and see how much of a sucker mommy and daddy are. Tyler doesnt go down as easily as he used to for naps or bed. Now, he will pull himself to stand in his crib and pop his head over the top of the rail and scream. I go back in lay him down and he gets up all over again. I keep doing it and eventually he gives in and passes out. I think it is just a stage. Hopefully she will start sleeping agian soon!

How many naps does she take during the day? Could she be sleeping too much during the day?

she takes 2 naps if that during the day her morning one is 9-1030 and the afternoon is about 1/2 hour around 2ish..... and that is is, so you would think she was tired.... last night she went to bed at 930 got up every hour, then at 1 i put her in bed and she slept till 5 and then to 7 so i got more then usual..........
