7 week old- is this normal?
The past week my daughter has been totally flipping out around 5 or 6 pm. She will SCREAM bloody murder until she chokes...nothing works, binky, swing, rocking...I feed her and shes ok..even though she ate 2 hours prior- so I doubt its hunger. I feel so bad for DH...he comes home from work and wants to spend time with her and she is terrible...He feels like it is him. She is great all day and NEVER cries like this. It kills me to hear her scream like this!! What could it be?

Definitely witching hour...it s*cks. One of mine had this BAD for a while - it's getting better but it's definitely due to being overtired. If he has good naps all day then really no witching hour for us anymore.

Pour yourself a glass of for 6:01pm and enjoy it. You have just experienced the witching hour. This is the only time my son cries. I no longer need to look at a clock bc I know it's 5pm.
Soothe them as much as you can, but it is what it is and know it will be over in 59minutes

DS has this too! 8 weeks old, for about 2 weeks now.
Stupid question....if it lasts more than 1 hour is it colic??? DS's "hour" lasts like 2-3 hours. It's definitely not constant screaming though, more on and off fussing and crying.

colic is "threes" Cries for three or more hours at least 3 days a week for 3 weeks straight.
My son's witching hour was more like 2 hours!! It ends!!

that witching hour will get you....I think every baby has it.
I THOUGHT my son had an all day witching hour but then we found out that he had Acid reflux and a milk protein allergy

I never heard this about colic. I also know, from my doctor and my own experience, that when a baby is colicy, 9 times out of 10 it is due to acid reflux (they do not have to spit up to have this, my lil man had silent reflux) or a milk protein allergy

Re: 7 week old- is this normal?
if this is the only time your dd does this, then i would say its her witching hour..my 1st dd did this also..every single time my husband walked in the door i was crying with my dd...HORRIBLE.
if she is crying more than you think is normal it could be reflux, constipation, allergy, tired, etc..just rule out anything before its just the witchingt hour..because she may need meds.i just went through this with my ds around 3 weeks it started and didnt find out until 10 weeks that he had blood in his stool.. and finally at 6 months his reflux is better and is on special formula for his allergy. made a world of a difference..
good luck i know how hard it is. i love my kids..but really dont enjoy this stage.. i never had a good experience until 6 months and up. very hard work.

Re: 7 week old- is this normal?
also..keep in mind that a 7 week old goes through growth spurts around 6 weeks so if she is inconsolable..try feeding her...babies at that age eat every 2-4 hours ..even formula fed.

Re: 7 week old- is this normal?
my DS also screams bloody murder everyday & the only thing that helps is to feed him, even though he is not hungry. I've had to close the windows many times so that the neighbors wouldn't think I was beating him. I hope he outgrows this soon.
